We are looking for you to join our team as an Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer based out of Silverdale, WA. As a Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Using Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities to the warfighter. The successful candidate will be collaborative, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility. Candidate should be flexible, embrace continuous learning and a culture of automation. Candidate will also research, plan, design and develop electrical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robotics, engines, machines and electrical systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

As a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer, a qualified candidate is expected to be proficient in design and analysis principles, processes, and tools. Electrical Engineers support the design, fabrication, and use of Classified Undersea Systems and related support equipment.

Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Perform Electrical/Software Design and Troubleshooting
- Perform Analysis and Simulation
- Support Integration & Test Process Development & Execution
- Address Obsolescence via Tech Refresh
- Provide Classroom and Simulator Training
- Develop Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
- Perform Installation and Maintenance (hands-on technician role)
- Liaison with other organizations (Navy, shipyard, co-contractors)
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer:
- Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and a minimum of 8 years of related experience OR Masters of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and a minimum of 6 years of related experience.
- Experience in Mixed Signal Design
- Experience in Embedded Circuit Design and Firmware (primarily C)
- Experience with Power and Grounding Systems
- Experience with ESD/Component Handling
- Proficient in the use of Electrical Test Equipment (DMM, Megger, Signal Generators, Dielectric Testers, Oscilloscopes, Analyzers)
- A Solid Understanding of Optical Fiber Principles (Light Propagation, Reflection, Refraction, Losses, Attenuation, Fiber Types, Components, Terminations)
- Proficient in the use of Fiber Optic Test Equipment (OTDRs, Power Meters, Light Sources)
- Must have an active/current DoD Secret Clearance. Secret clearance is required to start. If selected, must be able to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraph. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance for continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI with poly
- Familiarity with Siemens NX CAD/CAM/CAE/TeamCenter
- Electrical Assembly (wiring, termination, soldering)
- Experience with Shipyard Environment and Familiarity with the Navy JFMM
- Experience with PLCs and Ladder Logic
- Understanding of Hydraulics Components and Drawings
- Understanding of Mechanical Principals and Drawings
- Understanding of Materials and Compatibility in Seawater Environment
- Experience with Control System Theory and Application
- Experience with Matlab/Simulink Software
- Experience with Schematic Capture Software
- Computer Networking
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
