Job Summary:

B&A is looking for a Navy Production Manager to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. As Production Manager, you will ensure timely assembly and delivery of quality ruggedized shipboard hardware equipment for multiple Navy Programs. You will be responsible for all aspects of production including Production Line Personnel, processes, status, and tracking. The Production Manager will work with Navy Program/Project Managers to develop production schedules. They will provide status, and current or future potential risks related to the production and delivery of equipment to the Navy Program/Project Managers, Chief Engineer, as well as Navy stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the full scope of production operations for ruggedized shipboard IT and HM&E equipment in support of Navy programs.
  • Manage a cross-functional production team including assembly personnel, technicians, and production support staff to ensure on-time, on-budget product delivery.
  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules aligned with program milestones and delivery timelines, in coordination with Program/Project Managers and Engineering Leads.
  • Track production status, identify bottlenecks or risks, and communicate progress, delays, and mitigations to internal leadership and Navy stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to CMMI Level 3, ISO 9001, and DoD/Navy production standards.
  • Interpret and manage engineering documentation (e.g., drawings, BOMs, ECNs) to guide production activities and ensure accuracy in assembly.
  • Oversee material procurement, inventory control, and MRP (Materials Resource Planning) processes to support smooth production flows.
  • Work with supply chain teams to manage vendor performance, ensure timely material deliveries, and handle inbound logistics.
  • Coordinate with outbound logistics teams to ensure proper packaging, documentation, and delivery of finished goods to Navy facilities.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance and configuration management personnel to maintain traceability and compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve production processes for efficiency, cost control, and quality assurance.
  • Prepare reports and briefings for senior leadership, Navy customers, and cross-functional stakeholders on production health and risk posture.
  • Participate in strategic planning to align production capabilities with long-term division and program goals.
  • Mentor and coach production personnel to support workforce development and cross-training initiatives.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degreeBachelor's degree in engineering
  • 12+ years of experience managing production operations for complex hardware systems in defense, aerospace, or a similar regulated industry.

Required Skills:
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, manage priorities, and deliver results under tight deadlines.
  • Deep understanding of production scheduling, cost control, supply chain logistics, and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Strong experience working with engineering drawings, BOMs, change notices, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with configuration management systems, documentation control tools, and ISO/DoD compliance standards.
  • Proficient in production forecasting, lead-time analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively interface with Program Managers, Engineers, Quality Assurance, and Navy stakeholders.
