Background Information:

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Sr. Cost Estimator to be based in our Arlington, VA office (hybrid). Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. Overview:

The Sr. Cost Estimator will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) supporting cost estimating and pricing efforts for federal government proposals. This role requires deep knowledge of government acquisition regulations and pricing practices, and strong experience using Propricer or similar pricing tools. The estimator will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop fully compliant and competitive cost volumes across a range of contract types (FFP, CPFF, T&M, IDIQ). The estimator will develop and lead complex business modeling efforts to shape pricing strategies and strategic business decisions. The estimator will also develop and provide recommendations on pricing strategies. This position will be based in our Arlington, VA office (hybrid) as part of the Business Strategy team reporting to the Sr. Finance Manager.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Arlington, VA office.

Responsibilities Include:

• Lead the preparation of cost proposals in response to RFPs, RFIs, and ROM requests.
  
• Evaluate cost, schedule, and technical data to inform pricing decisions, affordability assessments, and profitability modeling.
  
• Build detailed pricing models in Propricer or Excel, incorporating direct labor, indirect rates, escalation, ODCs, and subcontractor costs.
  
• Interpret solicitation documents and ensure estimates comply with FAR, DFARS, CAS, and internal pricing policies.
  
• Support the development of basis of estimate (BOE) documentation and cost volume narratives.
  
• Coordinate with Capture, Contracts, Finance, and Technical SMEs to gather pricing inputs and validate assumptions.
  
• Participate in color team reviews and internal pricing strategy sessions.
  
• Analyze historical data, rate structures, and proposal trends to recommend pricing strategies.
  
• Respond to customer and auditor requests for cost/price data (e.g., DCAA/DCMA audits).
  

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or equivalent full-time professional experience.
• 8+ years of cost estimating experience in the federal government contracting environment.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on expertise with Propricer or similar cost estimating tools.
• Strong working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and government proposal pricing practices.
• Demonstrated experience with cost proposal development for DoD and/or civilian agencies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including complex formulas and modeling techniques).
• Ability to write and present clear, concise pricing documentation and justifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting CAS-covered contracts and/or major defense acquisition programs.
• Working knowledge of Deltek Costpoint, Cognos, or financial reporting tools.
