Job Description
As a Systems Engineer (Sr Systems Eng) for Undersea Maritime Systems, you will be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing test programs to verify system and subsystem requirements. This role combines systems engineering expertise with hands-on development and qualification experience for both electrical and optical systems.
You will work on new product development and transition to manufacturing, applying systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards to complex maritime defense systems. Your responsibilities will include requirements lifecycle management, system design, and qualification testing in a collaborative team environment.
The ideal candidate brings a clear understanding of systems engineering fundamentals, experience with requirements management and system modeling tools, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment focused on delivering high-quality defense solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive test programs to verify system and subsystem requirements for undersea maritime systems.
• Design and qualify electrical systems for maritime defense applications.
• Design and qualify optical systems meeting stringent performance requirements.
• Perform electrical and optical system design including requirement allocation and decomposition.
• Manage requirements lifecycle from initial development through system deployment.
• Support new product development and transition to manufacturing processes.
• Apply systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards.
• Utilize requirements management and system modeling tools effectively.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of system components.
• Conduct system verification and validation testing.
• Document design decisions, test results, and system specifications.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to professional development activities.

Required Experience/Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field.
• 2+ years of job-related experience (or Master's degree).
• Clear understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards.
• Clear understanding of requirements management and system modeling tools.
• Creative thinking ability with capacity to grasp and apply new information quickly.
• Ability to handle increasing responsibilities with growing complexity.
• Strong team collaboration skills and commitment to team success.

Nice-to-Haves

• Agile experience preferred.
• Experience with design and qualification of electrical systems.
• Experience with design and qualification of optical systems.
• Background in electrical/optical system design including requirement allocation and decomposition.
• Experience with requirements lifecycle management.
• Previous experience in new product development and transition to manufacturing.
• Experience with undersea or maritime systems.
• Knowledge of defense industry standards and practices.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field required.
Master's degree preferred.
