Overview

Intelligent Waves is seeking a part-time Technical Writer (20 hours per week) to support mission-critical efforts for a government customer in the National Capital Region (NCR). This position plays a key role in producing clear, accurate, and well-organized documentation-ranging from operational procedures and instructional content to engineering processes and technical specifications-for print, digital, and web-based platforms. The ideal candidate will excel at gathering complex technical information and translating it into accessible, user-friendly written materials.

Location: This Hybrid Technical Writer position is based in National Capital Region (NCR). 80% remote with 1 day per week onsite.

Part-Time: 20 hours a week.

Security Clearance: The Technical Writer must be a United States citizen and be able to obtain and hold a Public Trust.

Adherence to all customer site protocols is mandatory for employees.

Responsibilities

  • Writes operational, instructional, maintenance, engineering processes, and/or specifications for paper, multimedia, or web-based publications in accordance with corporate style guides and quality assurance standards.
  • Researches, analyzes, designs, develops, writes, edits, and publishes documentation for technical reports, products, training, and services.
  • Gathers and converts data into a written narrative.
  • Conducts and/or assists in documentation planning, including preparing plans, defining the audience, performing task analysis, recommending deliverable formats, and establishing project schedules.
  • Interfaces with technology and demonstrates the ability to write clearly, show ideas graphically, solve problems patiently, and interact with subject matter experts (SMEs), program leadership, clients, and peers.
  • Conducts tests and solicits feedback to ensure clarity, completeness, technical accuracy, and quality of produced documents.
  • Coordinates entire projects and manages workflow and teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience writing executive-level briefing materials
  • 10+ years of experience working with cybersecurity information
  • 10+ years serving as the authoritative voice for grammar, punctuation, and English usage, with a focus on producing clear, direct, and professional prose
  • Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology or Communication-related field

** Master's Degree or PHD will lower requirement by 2 and 4 respectively **
