Job Description

Tyto Athene is searching for an Onsite Telephony Technician/Site Lead in Yokosuka Japan to support the United States Navy's Naval Computer and Telecommunications Systems Far East, Performance Based Work Statement for Telephone Switch Maintenance, Extended Service Plan Contract to perform troubleshooting and repairs of the Nortel\Avaya\GenBand Telephone Switching systems and their associated equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year (24x7x365) maintenance and sustainment support for all Navy-owned Nortel\Avaya\GenBand Telephone Switching systems, voicemail and their associated equipment. This maintenance and sustainment support will also include routine and emergency technical assistance, as well as repair and return of unserviceable telephone switch and power supply components throughout the NAVCOMTELSTA FAR EAST Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Technical support management and updates for all supported platforms in region (approximately 13 sites) including at least annual support trip to Naval Facility Diego Garcia.
  • Function as Site Lead for troubleshooting support, emergency response, on-site training (hands-on support instruction to government Operation & Maintenance providers) operations and sustainment.
  • Administer any applicable manufacturer's warranty for Contractor-furnished equipment.
  • Install and manage OEM patches, firmware, and software updates as required.
  • Coordinate repair/replacement (R/R) services for all critical Nortel \ Avaya \ GenBand system electronic circuit packs, subassemblies, servers and assemblies. Critical system electronic circuit packs, subassemblies, and assemblies include all cards and assemblies required to keep the digital Switching system operational and capable of delivering dial tone and switching services.
  • Supported switch systems include: MSL-100 / CM6 / CM8 / CM10 / M1 / RCC2 / AS5300 / 11C / Switch Expert / RLCM with associated software versions.
  • Support digital and analog switching system requirements performing routine moves, adds, and changes, system status monitoring, trunk monitoring, emergency repair and escalation support for outages and/or equipment failure. Provide OEM patching and software updates as needed, or when required to repair a defective system component.
  • Initial troubleshooting support, emergency response, on-site training (hands- on support instruction to government Operation & Maintenance providers), peripheral equipment support, and project/engineering support as required.

  • On site Monday through Friday between 0800 - 1645 Japan Standard Time and will receive day-to-day direction from the Site Lead.
  • Travel occasionally to other areas in the region in support of "emergency demand maintenance" on failed telephone switching equipment as a term and condition of this contract. Travel, to the sites listed in paragraph 3.0 while infrequent, will be the responsibility of the contractor. Extended travel beyond 7 days is not anticipated.
  • Coordinate with Government Site Lead to ensure that higher-level OEM support for IA is available to the onsite technicians 24 X 7 X 365. Provide Weekly and Monthly status reports for project to Government Customer.

Required:
  • Shall possess a CompTia Security + CE certification and/or meet the requirements of Specialty Area 40 (O&M) via other methods described in the SECNAV Manual 5239.2 for Cyber Security Work Force (CSWF), commonly referred to IAT Level II certification in the commercial industry.
  • Experience providing technical support and service on the Nortel\Avaya\GenBand Digital-telephone switches.
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity in hands, fingers, and arms for reaching, climbing, balancing, and using hand/power tools and controls.
  • Vision abilities must include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to climb ladders safely when needed.
  • Must be capable of safely driving and operating vehicles.
  • Regularly able to lift and transport up to 50 lbs; frequently required to handle equipment weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to move throughout the work environment as needed.
  • Must possess clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Desired:
  • Avaya CM8 / CM10 experience / certification.

Clearance: Active U.S SECRET Clearance Required

Location: Work is located 100% on government site in Yokosuka, Japan

Compensation:
  • Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. A stipend will be provided to cover Cost of Living (Housing) and business expenses (Mobile Phone, Internet). This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
