Software Engineer - STAR 1954-4
Country Intelligence Group is seeking a full-time Software Engineer to support a dynamic data
engineering mission in Chantilly, VA. This position plays a critical role in advancing enterprise data
operations by designing, developing, and maintaining software systems that perform extraction,
transformation, and loading (ETL) of both structured and unstructured data. The ideal candidate will
work closely with analysts, operations personnel, and engineering teams to build robust, secure, and
scalable data-driven solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of modern data pipelines,
backend development, and integration of emerging technologies into existing systems. The selected
candidate will also contribute to improving data integrity, performance, and operational reliability
across multiple platforms in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
Tasks Performed:
• Collaborate with a cross-functional data engineering team to define and validate
software development and integration requirements.
• Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines to support the ingestion and
transformation of diverse data types into structured models.
• Develop and refine software systems using Python to enhance data accessibility
and utility.
• Integrate new technologies into existing systems to increase scalability,
maintainability, and performance.
• Provide ongoing operations and maintenance (O&M) support for data systems to
ensure reliable, secure performance.
• Contribute to the architecture of data pipelines and modular software
frameworks.
• Apply cyber data modeling techniques to improve data integrity and support
security objectives.
Education, Experience
and Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience identifying and validating requirements for ETL
systems.
• Proven software development experience with a focus on backend or data
oriented applications.
• Proficiency in Python development.
• Experience integrating new technology stacks into existing software
environments.
• Hands-on experience with Apache NiFi, Kafka, or Logstash. (Preferred)
• Familiarity with SQL and relational database environments. (Preferred)
• Experience building modular, scalable software systems. (Preferred)
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure software practices.
