Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Intermediate Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team of mission-focused professionals. This position plays a critical role in supporting and enhancing the stability, performance, and security of enterprise IT environments in support of government operations.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of system hardware, software, and supporting infrastructure. This role requires a proactive, solution-oriented approach to maintaining systems, resolving operational issues, and supporting end users. The Intermediate Systems Administrator will also work closely with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with security requirements and contribute to the continuous improvement of IT systems and processes.
Skills / Experience
Linux/Windows Systems Administrator Advanced Skills and Experience:
* Active Secret clearance (required)
* 6+ years of professional IT experience delivering system administration services in alignment with DoD enterprise IT environments
* Administer and maintain UNIX, Red Hat Linux, Solaris, Windows Server, VMware, Nutanix, and other virtualized platforms
* Perform server installation, configuration, and rebuilding-including hardware, peripherals, services, directories, and storage-based on operational standards
* Ensure optimal performance, availability, and security compliance of enterprise IT systems, including timely application of security patches and upgrades
* Conduct daily system monitoring, verifying hardware health, server resources, application functionality, and backup integrity
* Review and analyze system and application logs to proactively identify and resolve issues
* Provide Tier III-level support for complex technical issues and escalated troubleshooting
* Coordinate recovery from hardware or software failures, ensuring minimal downtime and effective stakeholder communication
* Manage storage resources, monitor network drive usage, and optimize system capacity and performance
* Apply DISA STIGs to ensure systems meet DoD cybersecurity compliance standards
* Implement performance enhancements, system migrations, and hardware upgrades as part of lifecycle management
* Perform additional IT and system support duties as required in support of mission operations
* Demonstrated expertise in System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM
* Strong experience with Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy Object (GPO) administration
* Familiarity with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments
* Prior experience in team leadership or technical management roles
* Ability to operate effectively in classified, fast-paced, and mission-critical environments
Education / Certifications
Linux/Windows Systems Administrator Advanced Education and Certifications:
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering degree or degree in Mathematics or Engineering
* Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education for this position
* DOD 8570.01 IAT II certification required to start (e.g, Security+)
* Must be able to obtain a DODM 8140.03 advanced level certification before government deadline (Advanced: CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP))
