Solidus is hiring a Principal Platform Engineer.
This is an onsite role based in Aurora, CO and will be working within a Secure Compartmented Integration Facility (SCIF. The role may require some travel (10% or less) to customer sites for support and possible on call support/overtime.
The Ideal candidate will have experience in both traditional infrastructure design; provisioning of platform, storage, and networking resources for existing on-premise infrastructure hardware that ideally also has experience in emerging DevOps/DevSecOps & Modernized technologies.
Clearance Requirements:
• US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI CI Poly security clearance
• Willingness to undergo comprehensive background investigation
Day in the Life:
• Leverage company and industry best practices and capabilities to develop and communicate implementation, of infrastructure solutions.
• Maintain existing systems through Linux Based Tools and manage the COTS stack on the system to support program needs.
• Assist to train up other Jr engineers to support the Program / team as needed to support program Operations.
• Asist with integration of the selected platform provisioning tool such as VMWare.
• Development, implementation of traditional compute/network/storage systems and related deployments, as well as support improving the program platform's over-arching design through new emerging technologies. This includes existing operating systems and existing server hardware designs, as well as supporting the design and development of new modernized system architectures.
• Be the focal point for the equipment room (lab) to ensure that all compute network and storage resources are properly allocated and maintained for the program's use.
• Engaged in the design and implementation of the system updates and upgrades with Focus on the Linux Server / Linux OS expertise and will interface both with the Program's Sr. Management and the Customer for Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) as required.
• Ensure that the COTS stack and versioning is consistent across the platform; and will work with the team to make updates as necessary.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
• BS/BA Degree in Science, Technology Engineering Math (STEM) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Physics and 8+ years of related work experience
• Experience with Agile Development Methodologies (E.g. scrum, SAFe)
• Experience with VMware
• Experience with programming languages (E.g. Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go)
Preferred:
• Experience with Linux LDAP for creating Linux based accounts and managing roles and permissions
• Experience with Linux Bash scripting for task automation and management of existing scripts
• Experience with modernization technologies such as Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher etc.
• Good understanding of Agile Development processes
• Notional experience with Windows & Windows Server OS
• General / Notional Experience in Networks; SAN/NAS designs and implementation
• Cisco IOS / Fiber Switch Familiarity
• Cisco Server Hardware / ILO Remote Management
• Sun Microsystems Server Management
The salary for this position is estimated to be between $140,000-$184,000. Customer contractual specifications, relevant work experience, skills, competencies and certifications, clearance status, and benefit selections will influence the final salary.
