At GDIT, people are our differentiator. We are looking for a Cloud Architect with strong Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to work across a multi-cloud environment delivering existing and new cloud offerings for a program that delivers applications and solutions across multiple classification levels and mission areas.
HOW OUR CLOUD ARCHITECT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Design and support secure, scalable, and compliant multi-cloud architectures, across AWS, Azure, and GCP, aligned with Department of Defense (DoD) mission requirements and cloud security best practices.
- Provides technical leadership and solution development aligned with cloud service offerings and mission/business objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into secure, efficient, and mission aligned technical solutions, maintaining awareness of evolving DoD cloud policies.
- Design and develop resilient, cloud-native solutions including front-end components, back-end services, and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to create cohesive applications using modern cloud technologies.
- Implement DevOps practices, including automated continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, infrastructure provisioning, and configuration management using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, and Azure DevOps.
- Develop and execute automated and manual test plans to validate cloud-native solutions for functionality, performance, security, and compliance with DoD environments.
- Document solution architectures, testing protocols, and production support procedures to ensure consistent knowledge transfer and maintain operational continuity.
- Establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging to support operational stability, incident response, and continuous improvement in accordance with DoD/DISA standards.
- Apply cloud governance frameworks including tagging standards, resource lifecycle management, access controls, and policy enforcement across multiple cloud environments.
- Design cloud architectures in alignment with Zero Trust Architectures (ZTA) principles, including least privilege access, identity-based segmentation, and continuous monitoring across multi-cloud environments.
- Support Financial Operations (FinOps) initiatives to optimize cloud spend, improve cost visibility, and support budget accountability within DoD financial environments.
- Ensure architectural decisions and operational practices support DoD compliance objectives, with a working understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the Authority to Operate (ATO) process.
- Contribute to secure cloud provisioning and system hardening efforts using infrastructure-as-code (IaC), aligned with DISA STIGs and IL4-IL6 environments.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to interpret change requirements, provide technical expertise, and guide implementation in alignment with mission and business goals.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement to enhance solution performance, security, and cost efficiency.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Security Clearance Requirement: Active Secret clearance
- Required Technical Skills and Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience architecting and deploying solutions across multiple public cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Strong understanding of cloud governance frameworks, tagging strategies, IAM, and cloud resource provisioning policies.
- Experience implementing FinOps practices, cloud cost modeling, and usage optimization strategies within a government funding or chargeback model.
- Working knowledge of RMF and ATO processes, including required documentation and lifecycle phases (SSP, POA&M, etc.).
- Familiarity with DISA STIGS, Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles, and DoD cloud security baselines.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills to interface with stakeholders across technical, security, and mission domains.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work across diverse teams, build rapport with stakeholders, and articulate technical decisions aligned to mission outcomes.
- Cloud Solutioning: Translate complex business requirements into tested, cloud native solutions using AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms.
