Amentum is seeking a dynamic Northeast Asia Science and Technology (S&T) Operations Lead with experience in planning and organizing programs in support of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) J85 Science and Technology (S&T) Division at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

You would be an excellent candidate for this position if you:

  • Have planned and/or managed programs with a wide range of sizes and purposes;
  • Always ensure program runs smoothly and on budget;
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
  • Have experience as a project manager and can work independently to successfully achieve objectives; and
  • Have the ability to integrate USINDOPACOM activities with various stakeholders to ensure collaboration during planning and coordination during execution.
  • Have experience working with International Allies and Partners and experience in exercise planning and execution.


Duties include:
  • Lead operational planning efforts and participate in international science and technology (S&T) and experimentation activities in both OCONUS and CONUS conducted exercises and/or individual test events. Frequent travel required. The individual must demonstrate the ability to plan, manage, and execute multiple, large S&T and experimentation events throughout the year. An experimentation team may consist of over 40 personnel.
  • Provide planning, coordination, and execution support for International S&T Engagement initiatives, to include the Pacific Operational Science and Technology (POST) Conference, and other innovation/S&T workshops and engagements.
  • Provide external stakeholder coordination, project/program planning and milestones, logistics, topic inputs, documentation, and capture and documentation of key engagement results.
  • Support the USINDOPACOM S&T office with normal staff activities, such as facilitating international visits/meetings, maintaining connections within the broader S&T community within Department of Defense (DoD) and with Allies and Partners, and maintaining project documentation for planning, execution and after-action reports.
  • Assist the government with travel planning for OCONUS and CONUS requirements, in support of engagements supporting region of responsibility.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder, sponsor, venue and vendor contact lists for each engagement/test location.
  • At the conclusion of each S&T engagement, compile an operations-specific after-action report detailing the specific objectives met, vendors, lessons learned, and recommendations for future S&T engagements for areas of improvement.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a scientific field (examples, but not limited to: engineering, physics, chemistry, operations research, math, computer science)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient at authoring analytical and/or policy documents
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to provide information, articles, written reports, and presentations to include delivering executive summaries to flag and general officers (FO/GO), Senior Executive Service (SES) level equivalents, and international partners
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in military plans, including U.S. military exercises.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, including managing project plans, schedules, cost, manning, etc.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, or Graduation from a military command and staff college
  • 5 or more years of experience in military plans, including U.S. military exercises. Joint experience desired.
  • 3 years' experience working in the USINDOPACOM area of responsibility (AOR)
  • Active Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification or similar
  • 3 to 5 years' experience working with international allies and partners (A/P) in the USINDOPACOM AOR
  • 1 to 3 years' experience planning, managing and executing multiple, large S&T experiments


Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $150K - $170K (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
