Amentum supports the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in providing specialized training, advisory and mentoring services to the National Training Center (NTC).
DOE NTC is located on Kirtland Airforce Base in Albuquerque, NM. The NTC is the Center of Excellence for Security and Safety Training for Federal and contractor personnel nationwide, including the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
POSITION SUMMARY:
Amentum is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Protective Force Training Manager. The Protective Force Training Manager is a senior management contractor position responsible and accountable for the management and operation of the Protective Force (PF) Training Department at the NTC. This role involves managing operations at the Live Firing Range (LFR) and oversees the supervision of staff. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in PF operations, instructional methodologies, and leadership training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Possesses effective management skills (i.e., leadership, ability to apply principles, practices, and techniques of project and resource management, plan and execute operational goals and objectives, and manage resources).
- Supervises the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of quality, cost-effective training programs and curriculum.
- Oversees the revision and maintenance of quality and professional cost-effective security training.
- Serves as the senior subject matter expert in PF training design, development and conduct.
- Ensure protection program training activities are conducted in accordance with contractual procedures and all other applicable quality, safety and health requirements.
- Provides safety and security oversight for all persons to include staff and students during daily operations and training events.
- Oversees PF training for all DOE sites, as described in DOE O 473.2A, Protective Force Operations .
- Oversees site certification and instructor compliance for the Department.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with NTC staff to identify training needs and gaps.
- Ensures accuracy and currency of course materials, course scheduling and operations plan development.
- Ensure all course materials and activities comply with DOE and NTC policies and regulations.
- Leads and/or interfaces with working groups, customers, policy organizations, and others to ensure currency of training and to identify emergent training needs.
- Provides leadership to all phases of the PF training development effort, including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Ensures adequate department staffing and skill mix are available to meet mission needs.
- Observes courses and conducts analysis to evaluate effectiveness of training to support continued maintenance of curriculum course materials.
- Maintains required curriculum and instructional records.
- Evaluates trainee performance through written, practical, and scenario-based assessments.
- Provide constructive feedback and maintains personnel expectations.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previously qualified PF professional with 5-10 years of operational and PF experience.
- Formal instructor certification (DOE, law enforcement, military and/or commercial).
- Exhibits excellent written and communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft suite of programs.
- Exhibits a high degree of attention to detail while designing, developing, and editing course products.
- Capable of working under tight deadlines and managing tasks through successful completion.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government DOE Q Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a DOE Q Clearance.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or 8+ years experience.
- Firearms training and/or defense tactics certifications.
- Knowledge of applicable DOE requirements.
- Management experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this position, an annual physical is required. The employee is occasionally required to stand for long durations; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme outdoor elements. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
