Program Overview

Supports the transformation and modernization of legacy Coast Guard systems and services including mobility, messaging, ITSM, ITAM, Network Infrastructure, and legacy data systems from on premise implementations to cloud and hybrid cloud solutions. New system and service implementations, including zero trust architecture, to provide leading edge systems that are both secure and accessible.

About The Role

Peraton is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Software Application Tester to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for validating software applications through rigorous manual and/or automated testing to ensure functionality, usability, performance, and security meet the highest standards. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify issues and verify that new and existing features function as intended.

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:

• Software testing requires multiple documents to be created and supported for each application being requested. The applicant will be responsible for the creation of the installation guide for each title
• Using ACAS, the applicant will have a prescan and a post scan from an ACAS terminal.
• Create application tech eval report that you will fill in with product information.
• Test computers have Total Uninstall that we use to check for any system changes.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, usability, and performance testing.
• Identify, document, and track software defects using our internal tools
• Collaborate with technical team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Participate in daily scrums, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings as part of Agile development.
• Maintain test documentation and contribute to quality standards and best practices.
• Conduct exploratory testing to identify edge cases and potential user experience issues.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience or a High School Diploma and 6 years of experience.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret clearance.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and QA methodologies, including Agile and DevOps environments.
• Experience tracking work in a Service Management tool such as Remedy or Service Now
• Attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Certification Required: CompTIA Security+ certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as a Software Tester, QA Engineer, or similar role is highly desired
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and scripting is a plus.
• Exposure to security testing or compliance standards is a bonus.

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
