Electrical Modification Technician

Contract Position
$28.85-$32.32/Hour

Responsibilities:
- Perform complex electrical modifications on and off aircraft, including installation, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical wiring and system components.
- Terminate connectors including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optics; route, seal, wrap, and bond harnesses per specifications.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical orders, wire diagrams, and process specifications to meet retrofit and repair requirements.
- Conduct inspections, bench and flight line testing, and operational evaluations on aircraft electrical/environmental systems.
- Install and modify wire bundles and electrical assemblies according to company, DOD, and supplier directives.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and support resolution at the organizational or depot level.
- Train junior team members and potentially lead small work teams on complex modification tasks.
- Diagnose issues in assembly processes and perform corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) standards.
- Support multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., General Mechanics, Structures, Avionics) to achieve production and maintenance goals.
- Maintain all required certifications, licenses, and safety training.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, mobile cranes, and elevated work platforms.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance required.
- Experience: Minimum 4+ years of experience in aircraft electrical systems maintenance and modification.
- Skills:
- Proficient in electrical/electronic theory related to aircraft systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation and technical specifications.
- Comfortable working rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to support mission schedules.
- Capable of working in confined spaces, climbing vertical ladders, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
- Familiar with Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and hazardous energy controls.
- Willingness to support cross-functional teams and assist with general and structural aircraft tasks.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in depot-level maintenance or modification programs.
- Familiarity with aircraft tooling safety protocols, SA Tool systems, and FOD management procedures.
- Certification or experience in operating forklifts, cranes, and elevated platforms.
