Propulsion Systems is looking for a Chemist to support Promontory Testing Operations at our Promontory, Utah plant. The plant is located near Brigham City, Utah.

Salary Range: $77,200.00 - $115,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Propulsion Systems is looking for a Chemist to support Promontory Testing Operations at our Promontory, Utah plant. The plant is located near Brigham City, Utah.
Role description & Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of moderately complex chemical, mechanical and physical analyses on various materials including in-process testing of propellants to determine material composition and/or physical properties as required per customer specification.
- Uses moderately complex test instrumentation and computer operated data acquisition set-ups and standardization to obtain necessary test data.
- Evaluates results of chemical and physical testing data. May assist in the development and documentation of new methods, and prepares and maintains analysis logs, records, documentation, etc.
- Assists in the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation and data acquisition equipment.
- Works with LIMS and Quality and inventory databases to track material and test results.
- Successful candidate will work with experienced chemists and technicians who operate analytical test equipment including chromatographic and spectroscopic instrumentation, particle size analyzers, viscometers, titration equipment, mechanical testing instrumentation and various other instruments and laboratory equipment. Testing will include analysis of production and subscale propellants and ingredients. Candidate will be expected to maintain a high standard of operational discipline to support clean, safe, and efficient operations.
Minimum Requirements:
- BS degree in a science related field (Chemistry, Biology, Engineering)
- 2 years' Experience, knowledge, and/or respect for energetic materials
- Preferred 1.5 years working in material research, test, or production environment
- Strong hands-on chemistry and computer aptitude
- Experience using scientific instrumentation and equipment
- Intermittent shift and weekend work required
