We are seeking a highly organized and technically skilled Packaging and Shipping Coordinator to support a high-profile aerospace program in Dallas, TX. This role involves coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, and shipping departments to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient packaging and transportation of hardware, including hazardous and classified materials.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in packaging engineering, logistics, and hazardous materials handling, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and interface with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all program packaging and shipping needs.
- Coordinate truck requests and logistics across all client sites.
- Develop and maintain Special Packaging Instructions (SPI) and ensure compliance with DOT CFR 49 and POP requirements.
- Track and manage reusable shipping crates, initiating repairs or replacements as needed.
- Prepare hardware for shipment, including labeling, documentation, and inspection coordination.
- Evaluate and implement new packaging techniques to improve shipping processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis on damaged shipments and implement corrective actions.
- Plan and execute Performance Oriented Packaging (POP) testing, including test plans, coordination, observation, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with ASTM D 3951 for commercial packaging and military specifications.
- Support Packaging, Handling, and Storage (PHS) reviews and ensure efficient protection of system materials.
- Maintain documentation and records in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance (Requires US Citizenship)
- 2-4 years of experience in packaging and shipping operations.
- Knowledge of shipping practices, inspection requirements, and hazardous materials handling.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations, MSDS, and packaging standards.
- Ability to read blueprints and use packaging tools and equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience using purchase request systems and shipping documentation tools.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment and packaging machinery.
- Active Secret Clearance
- Degree in Packaging Engineering or related technical field.
- Experience with Mechanical CAD tools (CREO, PTC Pro/E).
- Technical writing and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of RFID, ASTM D 3951, and military packaging standards.
- Familiarity with CFR Title 49, ICAO, and IMDG Code.
- Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems and workflow processes.
