Structures Mechanic

Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structures Mechanic to join their team in San Antonio, TX. This role is critical to supporting structural modifications and repairs on high-value aircraft platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with aircraft structural components, tools, and repair procedures, and will thrive in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, and installation on critical support structures and fracture-critical areas.
• Locate and drill blind holes for structural installations.
• Execute sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation tasks per standard repair processes.
• Interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, and retrofit requirements for structural modifications.
• Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level structural repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components and assess basic electrical system functionality.
• Operate aircraft-specific tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, cable tensiometers, and sheet metal brakes.
• Access aircraft data systems and initiate parts and discrepancy requests.
• Maintain required certifications, licenses, and permits.
• Work in confined spaces, ascend/descend ladders, and lift up to 35 pounds.
• Ensure safety compliance through Hazardous Energy and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Collaborate with other team members (General Mechanics, Avionics, Electronics) to meet cost and schedule targets.
• Adhere to SA Site Tool and FOD procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance (Requires US Citizenship)
• 4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel).
• 4+ years of experience interpreting schematics, specifications, and assembly drawings.
• 4+ years of experience using structural hand tools (e.g., drills, countersink cages, rivet guns).
• 4+ years of experience with heavy aircraft structures (e.g., doublers, stringers, seat tracks).

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance
• Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance, particularly JAWACS or depot-level work.
• Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and electric-powered elevating equipment.

Candidates must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
