Key Responsibilities
- Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, and installation on critical support structures and fracture-critical areas.
- Locate and drill blind holes for structural installations.
- Execute sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation tasks per standard repair processes.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, and retrofit requirements for structural modifications.
- Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level structural repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components and assess basic electrical system functionality.
- Operate aircraft-specific tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, cable tensiometers, and sheet metal brakes.
- Access aircraft data systems and initiate parts and discrepancy requests.
- Maintain required certifications, licenses, and permits.
- Work in confined spaces, ascend/descend ladders, and lift up to 35 pounds.
- Ensure safety compliance through Hazardous Energy and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Collaborate with other team members (General Mechanics, Avionics, Electronics) to meet cost and schedule targets.
- Adhere to SA Site Tool and FOD procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance (Requires US Citizenship)
- 4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel).
- 4+ years of experience interpreting schematics, specifications, and assembly drawings.
- 4+ years of experience using structural hand tools (e.g., drills, countersink cages, rivet guns).
- 4+ years of experience with heavy aircraft structures (e.g., doublers, stringers, seat tracks).
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance
- Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance, particularly JAWACS or depot-level work.
- Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and electric-powered elevating equipment.
