OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a Data Center Engineer to support an Intelligence Community Customer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, delivering, and optimizing Infrastructure Services to enhance security, availability, performance, and resource utilization within data centers. This role involves reviewing existing infrastructures, architectures, designs, and operations to identify areas for improvement , and analyzing, refining, and documenting requirements for transitioning from legacy hardware to modern data center environments

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, delivering, and optimizing Infrastructure Services to enhance security, availability, performance, and resource utilization within data centers. This role involves reviewing existing infrastructures, architectures, designs, and operations to identify areas for improvement , and analyzing, refining, and documenting requirements for transitioning from legacy hardware to modern data center environments
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Designing and building host and tenant environments with security-hardened configurations for infrastructure services, and developing ongoing maintenance practices for patching and updates.
- Designing virtual infrastructure services to maximize the available capacity of physical compute, storage, and network hardware resources.
- Documenting security, configuration, and performance benchmarks of Infrastructure Services.
- Designing production infrastructure services to support highly available, private cloud, active-active data center operations within environmental constraints.
- Developing practices, procedures, automation, and orchestration for provisioning, de-provisioning, and entitling Compute, Storage, and Network resources.
- Identifying infrastructure security-relevant actions, tests, and key performance indicators for information dashboards and reporting.
- Designing Service Catalog Items for Infrastructure Services for both business and IT technical services.
- Providing advanced technical support in research, experimentation, business analysis, and the use of systems technology, including architecture, integration capabilities, and database management.
- Developing end-to-end vision and logical designs for physical databases and data flow.
- Practicing a wide range of data administration skills, often within a Business Process Reengineering context.
- Participating in strategic data planning, including the development and implementation of Data Administration (DA) policies, standards, and procedures.
- Understanding data from the perspective of data processing and different life-cycle phases.
- Potentially engaging in activities such as data quality engineering, metadata consolidation and integration, metamodel development and maintenance, repository management, data warehouse design and data mining, data security administration, and formulating enterprise-specific data metrics.
- Performing storage engineering design for periodic data center, storage, and remote site server hardware refreshes.
- Recommending hardware solutions compatible with existing Storage technologies.
- Documenting data center physical hardware designs, including row, rack, bay, interconnections, power, network, storage, serial numbers, lifecycle, and supporting service information.
- Creating and documenting requisite storage configuration settings.
- Designing and engineering long-term storage solutions to meet records management requirements.
- Delivering service catalog items for automatically provisioning storage to deliver Infrastructure-as-Code.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree and Years of Experience:
- 7 to 10 years with BS/BA.
- 3 to 8 years with MS/MA.
- 0 to 5 years with PhD.
- DoD 8570.1-M IAT Level II or Level III certification.
- Experience in Infrastructure/Datacenter engineering and integration for both physical and virtual infrastructure hosting one or more Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, Solaris, UNIX, and/or AIX systems.
- Experience in VMware vCloud Enterprise Suite and hybrid cloud with multiple classified Government clouds.
- Experience in Storage engineering and integration for both physical and virtual infrastructure hosting.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- ITIL Foundations certification.
- Professional-level Linux, VMware, Network, Storage, or Cloud certifications.
- Professional-level Storage certification.
