As the Acoustic Flight Test Engineer, you will use your acoustics background and flight test engineering expertise to contribute to critical flight test operations. This position will support the Mission Systems Test and Evaluation Department (MSTED) based at NAS Patuxent River, MD. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of technical proficiency, and the adaptability, collaboration, and problem-solving mindset required in dynamic flight test environments. In this role, you will:
- Apply your knowledge of acoustics to support flight test planning, execution, and analysis.
- Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure mission success.
- Demonstrate the communication skills and situational awareness necessary to thrive in high-tempo test operations.
- Develop, write, review, and maintain aircraft test plans and test reports.
- Support the design and execution of tests to verify aircraft/system performance requirements using instrumentation and data collection tools.
- Orchestrate the collection, transformation, and analysis of test data and deliver results through briefings and written reports.
- Conduct pre- and post-flight briefings and debriefs to ensure thorough data collection and information exchange.
- Recommend improvements in test equipment, procedures, and analysis techniques.
- Collaborate with project teams to solve complex science, engineering, and data processing challenges.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related STEM field is required. Additional years of related military or engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in test engineering or systems analysis, required.
- Demonstrated experience supporting aircraft flight test or military aviation programs.
- NAVAIR/NAWCAD experience is preferred.
- You are able to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
- You possess professional and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- You take a proactive approach to your work and you're able to accomplish tasks with limited guidance and supervision.
- You have demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Your organizational skills allow you to manage competing priorities.
Security Clearance Requirement:
- This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance. Selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- The estimated salary range for this position will be $110,000 - $145,000 annually, based on an individual's level of experience and skill set. It is our goal at ASEC to provide equitable compensation to all employees.
