The Personnel Security Specialist supports the NAVSEA Physical Security team with handling or coordinating submission for Secret/Top Secret security clearances eligibility through the Office of Electronic Application (e-APP).
Responsibilities
- Initiate background checks.
- Process e-QIP forms.
- Review and verify PERSEC Questionnaires (SF-86 and SF-85).
- Update DISS with e-APP data for OPM security clearances.
- Support SEA 00P4 in clearance processing, security eligibility, visitor requests, and maintaining a DISS repository.
- Obtain fingerprints and access systems for suitability and security adjudications.
- Initiate and process DCSA/e-APP investigations for NAVSEA HQ personnel every five years.
- Perform technical, research, and administrative tasks for the personnel security program.
- Validate Continuous Evaluation Program enrolments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
- Graduation from an accredited High School or possession of a General Education Development certificate is necessary.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a clerical or related position is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to pass a background check and be in good financial standing.
- Must speak English clearly and have strong verbal, written communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
- Proficiency in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment.
- Knowledge of various computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook.
- Ability to deal satisfactorily with customers.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven skills in customer relations.
