Tyto Athene is searching for a DevSecOps Engineer -Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Journeyman DevSecOps Engineer is responsible for collaborating with security teams to address vulnerabilities and follows best practices for secure code and system configurations. This role focuses on automating secure CI/CD pipelines, managing containerized deployments, and ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Works closely with developers, architects, and operations teams to integrate DevSecOps practices into workflows, fostering communication and alignment of goals to streamline the software delivery process
- Involves monitoring system performance, reliability, and security, recommending and implementing enhancements to improve efficiency and resilience
- Maintains up-to-date documentation for pipelines, security integrations, and operational processes, and prepares reports on system performance, security compliance, and deployment metrics
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement, leverages emerging tools and techniques to enhance development and delivery
- Provides recommendations for improvements to security practices, system monitoring, and automation frameworks are also part of the role
Required:
- Associate's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Software Engineering or related field
- 4-9 years of experience in DevOps, system engineering, or software development roles with a security-focused environment
- Proficiency in one or more scripting or programming languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell)
- Hands-on experience with version control systems (Git), CI/CD tools, and container technologies
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks (e.g., RMF, DISA STIGs)
- Experience with vulnerability scanning and code analysis tools
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Experience working in classified or DoD environments
- Kubernetes Administrator Certification (CKA) or similar - Preferred
- DevOps Engineer or equivalent cloud certification
- Familiarity with GitOps workflows and tools like Argo CD or Flux
- ITIL Foundation or higher certification
Clearance:
- TS/SCI clearance required
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+ CE
- Microsoft AZ-104 or AZ-400

- Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
