Links Technology is seeking a driven and skilled Aerospace Engineer III to join our client's team in Englewood, CO. Our client is a leading aerospace and defense firm, renowned for delivering customer-focused technology and best-of-breed integrations. This Contract role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise to design and create groundbreaking aerospace and defense technologies. The contract length is 12 months, with potential for extension or conversion.
Responsibilities of the Aerospace Engineer III:
• Research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy, and improve cutting-edge aerospace products and services, including advanced mission payloads, electronic systems, and highly integrated aircraft.
• Develop complex aerodynamic components, structures, and systems, with a focus on outer mold line design for aircraft skins.
• Conduct technical duties involving the design, development, analysis, and testing of new products and processes throughout the product life cycle.
• Generate external loads, aircraft performance estimates, stability and control assessments, and other fluid dynamics analyses using handbook methods, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and/or test data reduction (flight test and wind tunnel).
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of fluid dynamics principles and their application to aircraft outer mold line design.
• Understand and apply aircraft performance modeling, flight characteristics, and aerodynamic data.
• Exhibit a strong understanding of Earned Value Management.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
Qualifications of the Aerospace Engineer III:
• BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
• Proficiency in aerospace engineering principles, CAE tools, and CFD.
• Experience with Engineering Simulation tools (e.g., Star-CCM+ for CFD and Thermal Analysis) preferred.
• Familiarity with aircraft external loads, performance, stability, and control preferred.
• Knowledge of wind tunnel and flight test procedures, especially related to fluid dynamics and outer mold line testing, preferred.
• Understanding of industry standard aerospace principles (parametric design, model-based definition, flight mechanics) and 14 CFR part 25 regulations preferred.
• Experience with Python code and MATLAB is beneficial.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to travel as needed (limited travel).
