The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Systems Administrator to support our government customer located in Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands . This position is an unaccompanied position.

The Systems Administrator provides system administration and operating system support, to include hardware monitoring, for file, print, common user application servers, and server farms/banks. This includes monitoring routine backups of local servers and performing routine updates to each server on a weekly basis for both unclassified and classified networks.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform baseline NEC server administration duties and system administration duties for mission support.
  • Provide appropriate Desktop Support related reports, activities, and\or verification per the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
  • Provide support for hardware monitoring, for file, print, common user application servers, and server farms/banks.
  • Provide and install hardware, operating system, and software for file, print, common user applications servers, and server farms/banks.
  • Perform system backups for each file, print, and common user applications server.
  • Provide data to QC for System Backup Plan and Report due to the COR the first business day of each month.
  • Create and utilize scripts with PowerShell to automate routing system and user management tasks.
  • Monitor and manage ticket queue and ensure that unresolved issues are escalated in a timely fashion.
  • Perform beginning of day and end of day checks/tests to include updating all open tickets and report any significant issues to the Enterprise Services Manager, DPM-Operations, or PM as well providing data to QC for the daily performance reports to the COR
  • Provide daily briefs of any significant issues and immediately report all outages or hazardous conditions per NEC-KA, RCCP, and USAG-KA reporting requirements.
  • Perform administration and maintenance on Microsoft Windows server platforms, Virtual Machine software (VMWare), various Storage Area Networks (SAN), Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) platform servers; and as required Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM), Cisco Unity Unified Messaging and supported subsystems.
  • Ensure all NEC-managed servers are compliant with STIG and mitigate vulnerabilities discovered with the latest patches, based on ACAS scan, Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) scans, and other security tools.
  • Properly maintain current DISA security technical implementation guides (STIG) Checklists (CKLs) on all common user servers.
  • Install security, operating system service packs, patches, application updates and patches to maintain compliance and a high security posture.
  • Coordinate with Cybersecurity team to create/maintain a plan of action and milestones (POA&M) for submission into Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) entries.
  • Collect system logs, security logs, and application logs for file, print, and common user applications servers and report any abnormalities to Cyber and/or LNEC-KA Cyber COR.
  • Perform release management, to include commercial software, standard software, and site license management, for new system releases for NEC-managed systems.
  • Operate and maintain a data center environment for backend computing resources necessary to operate a 911/E911 Emergency Support Center for NEC-managed servers.
  • Ensure all changes are proper documents including risks and backout plans and the plan properly follows the change control process for approval
  • Provide notifications of planned or unplanned system maintenance or degradation, in the form of an ASI Request
  • Apply system analysis techniques and procedures to determine hardware, software, or system function specifications for servers and computers.
  • Evaluate enterprise systems hardware and software deficiencies and provide recommendations to correct deficiencies.
  • Support the process Capabilities Requests (CAPR) for new software purchases to be submitted to the COR.
  • Organize and support continual improvement projects for systems and server manageability and performance.
  • Serve as the Systems SME in cross-disciplinary teams to resolve problem or improve services via iterative projects
  • Develop strong communications and working relationships with other support work center teams (including Desktop, Networks, Infrastructure. and Cyber Security).
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures and flows for common systems\server tasks
  • Create and maintain detailed and accurate Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP)
  • Assist customers with determining DoD approved Enterprise hosting solutions
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field preferred (not required) and at least three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Required 8570 baseline and CE certifications for IAT-II
  • Experience with ServiceNow/AESMP ticketing system highly desired
  • Experience with ESXi/VMWare and MECM preferred.
  • ITIL 4 certification highly desired

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Customer oriented attitude for positive CX/UX
  • Possess a highly developed knowledge of systems analysis, computer systems, programming languages, hardware capabilities, and system operation
  • Experience with Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Working knowledge of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)
  • Experience with securing, documenting, and maintaining SQL
  • Ability to relocate and reside at the USAG-KA in the RMI. You must meet current vaccination requirements for infectious diseases to enter the RMI. Must also be willing to meet any future vaccination requirements if mandated by the RMI.
  • Pre-employment health screening is required due to the island's remote location and limited medical and dental capabilities.
  • Ability to ride a bicycle or walk at least 2 miles to/from work daily. There are no personally owned vehicles allowed on USAG-KA. Transportation is primarily by bicycle.
  • Ability to travel by plane or small sea-going vessel between working locations.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Rotational callback and emergency duty are requirements of this position

  • Must possess a valid U.S. passport.
  • TOP SECRET security clearance to access classified information.
