As a Network Engineer Advisor, your role is to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support the USBICES-X program.

As a Network Engineer Advisor, your role is to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support the USBICES-X program.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of various network appliances and infrastructure hardware for ensuring system availability and reliability.
- Corresponds with vendors, Internet service providers, and DISA circuit actions officers to design configurations and develop architectural plans to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the US BICES-X enterprise.
- Monitor, maintain, support, and optimize all networked software associated operating systems.
- Assists with network architecture design for new or existing computer systems
- Generates KG, router, and switch configurations for deployable and non-deployable sites accessing US BICES-X
- Analyzes and implements DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to ensure the security of the network architecture.
- Participate in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements.
- Provides input on new or existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to network administration.
- May provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced systems engineers.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
- Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
- Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.
- Knowledge of Data Center and Virtualization
- Participates in special projects as assigned.
Operational Management
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
- Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems.
- Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
- Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of related Network Engineering and Administration experience
- Must possess and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- Bachelor's Degree- may substitute additional years of experience
- Must possess a current Cisco CCNA
- Must meet DoDM 8140.03 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges and must obtain ITIL V4 Foundation within six months of hire. Additional specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.
- Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.)
- Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS software and hardware features
- Hands-on experience working with HAIPE-based encryption devices, such as KG-175 and KG-250x/255x
- Knowledge and experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) VoIP/collaboration systems
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot Site-to-Site VPN tunnels
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work
- Highly organized with strong ability to prioritize work and work autonomously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Great attention to detail and presentation

- The work is typically performed at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current Cisco CCNP ENCOR certification
- Depending on job assignment, additional specific certifications may be required.
- Knowledge and experience with data center networking
- Experience with Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls and firewall rule sets
- Experience with General Dynamics and ViaSat Encryption devices
- Experience with Site-to-Site VPN configurations and troubleshooting
- Experience with SolarWinds
- Experience with Cisco IOS, Routers and Switches
