Tyto Athene is searching for a Junior Network Engineer to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Junior Network Engineer Supports the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure to sustain USSOUTHCOM's mission-critical operations. This position involves working collaboratively with system administrators, cybersecurity staff, and mission stakeholders to ensure secure, resilient, and high-performing network services.

Tyto Athene is searching for a Junior Network Engineer to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Junior Network Engineer Supports the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure to sustain USSOUTHCOM's mission-critical operations. This position involves working collaboratively with system administrators, cybersecurity staff, and mission stakeholders to ensure secure, resilient, and high-performing network services.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in deploying and managing network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, to maintain seamless connectivity
- Monitors network performance, conducts basic diagnostics, and escalates complex issues to senior engineers
- Supports the implementation of cybersecurity measures, access controls, and encryption protocols to protect network assets and maintain compliance with DoD security policies
- Works alongside senior engineers to integrate new technologies and optimize network performance
- Performs routine network assessments, documentation, and inventory management to support lifecycle operations and compliance efforts
- Responds to Tier 1 and Tier 2 service requests, assisting with network configurations, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and applying security patches
- Supports network expansion and modernization projects, including infrastructure upgrades and cloud integrations
- Assists in network testing, performance monitoring, and compliance audits to align with risk mitigation, cybersecurity, and continuity of operations (COOP) strategies
- Collaborates with IT teams to enhance enterprise network reliability, security, and scalability
Required:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- 0-3 years of experience
- Hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, NAT, and subnetting
- Familiarity with DoD networking environments (e.g., DISN, SIPRNet, NIPRNet)
Desired:
- Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking or related field
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, PRTG)
- Experience with firewalls, load balancers, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS)
- Understanding of network segmentation and Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA)
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
- Cisco Certified Network Associate
- Aruba Certified Switching Associate
Clearance:
- TS/SCI clearance required
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role

- CompTIA Network+
