We are seeking a Systems/Test Engineer to join RSC2!
The Portfolio organizes and optimizes our life-cycle engineering/sustainment functions by combining field system sustainment with current operations in quick reaction, urgent operational needs, and direct field support mission areas into the same portfolio of responsibility. A skilled and experienced Test Engineer is sought to join our team in support of critical defense acquisition programs. The successful candidate will have extensive expertise in test engineering, including knowledge of DoDI 5000 and the Defense Acquisition System, DA PAM 73-1, IEEE-29148 and will contribute to the design, execution, and evaluation of comprehensive testing strategies. This role also involves utilizing cutting-edge tools and technologies, such as MATLAB, Python and other relevant software, to analyze data received from various sensors.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and integrate complex systems and subsystems for the PD Aerostats program, ensuring that they meet program requirements and objectives.
- Conduct systems engineering trades studies, analyses, and simulations to optimize system performance, reliability, and maintainability, and to identify and mitigate technical risks.
- Develop and maintain system architectures, including functional and physical architectures, to support program requirements and objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, logistics, and testing, to ensure that system designs and developments meet program requirements and objectives.
- Conduct system testing and validation, including the development of test plans, test procedures, and test reports, to ensure that systems meet program requirements and objectives.
- Provide expert guidance and oversight to junior systems engineers, ensuring that they have the necessary skills, knowledge, and expertise to perform their jobs effectively.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including system designs, interface control documents, and test plans, to support program requirements and objectives.
- Conduct risk assessments and mitigation planning to identify and address potential technical risks and issues.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders, including industry, academia, and government agencies, to stay informed about emerging trends and technologies, and to identify opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
- Serve as a technical expert and advisor to program leadership on systems engineering matters, including providing expert guidance and support on technical issues and risks.
- Develop and deliver briefings, reports, and other presentations to senior leadership and other stakeholders on systems engineering matters, including providing expert testimony and advice on technical issues and risks.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering
- A master's degree or higher in a related field may be substituted for 3 years of experience.
- DAWIA Practitioner Certification in Test and Evaluation Preferred
- Active Secret clearance. This position is a SECRET position, or the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance/access. A Single Scope Background Investigation is required for access and must be completed prior to hiring and periodically thereafter.
- Working knowledge of DoDI 5000 and the Defense Acquisition System.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Expertise in test and evaluation types and processes
- Familiarity with advanced test automation tools and methodologies.
- Experience with specific analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python
- Experience with CAD and Windchill
- Experience performing system audits and quality inspections
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering and operational testing within the Department of Defense.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with various sensor platform and electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience working and testing various sensors systems (EO/IR, Communications, Radar, ELINT/SIGINT, acoustic, command and control systems etc.)
- The employee is expected to travel in a Temporary Duty (TDY) status for at least 50% of the time.
Recommended Tools and Technologies:
- Signal Processing and Data Analysis: MATLAB, Python
- Radar and EO/IR Simulation: STK, MATLAB Phased Array System Toolbox.
- EO/IR and Image Processing: ENVI, ImageJ, ERDAS IMAGINE.
- Communication and RF Payload: ADS (Advanced Design System), COMSOL Multiphysics, CST Studio Suite.
- Data Visualization: Tableau, ParaView, Power BI
