Responsibilities
- Support implementation of engineering projects for the installation and commissioning of new infrastructure and equipment.
- Manage, manipulate, and analyze large geospatial databases containing linear infrastructure to support planning, acquisition, deployment, and management of technologies and infrastructure for border protection.
- Monitor progress and performance against project plans, taking action to resolve problems and minimize delays; identify, develop, and gather resources necessary to complete projects.
- Develop visualizations of information for management decision-making and report metrics on project-specific data analysis.
- Maintain an ArcGIS Online portal application for efficient, hands-on geospatial analysis and perform rapid manipulation of spatial data using field and geometric calculators.
- Construct SQL search queries to locate, define, and isolate specific features within extensive databases and utilize feature layers to effectively symbolize and visualize rapidly changing geospatial data.
- Develop and implement industry-standard protocols and procedures for GIS applications and services, focusing on data modeling and distribution.
- Implement GIS project activities, including map production, geospatial data analysis, and development of data layers, with attention to linear construction considerations such as environmental and real estate issues.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team (engineers, environmental specialists, real estate experts, logistics professionals, etc.) to conduct required analyses from datasets.
- Prioritize geospatial requests received from the government, including Senior Leadership, and participate in required planning and coordination calls.
- Provide periodic update reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, geography, cartography, environmental science, information technology (IT), or a related discipline.
- At least five to ten (5-10) years of relevant experience in geospatial analysis and project engineering.
- Experience with data visualization and advanced skills using ESRI ArcPro or similar geospatial tools.
- Ability to rapidly provide geospatial analysis and create dynamic and static maps.
- Strong organizational skills, including time management, communication, goal setting, delegation, working under pressure, self-motivation, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders and demonstrated experience facilitating collaboration across multiple workstreams.
- Problem-solving capabilities and strong oral and written communication skills.
- A true team player with a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a field related to geospatial analysis.
- Professional certification in GIS (e.g., GIS Professional, Esri Technical Certification in ArcGIS, or similar), PMP, Asset Management, or other project management certifications.
Requirements:
- Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance use, and employment verifications. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination.
- Active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred.
