Program Overview

Peraton provides USSOCOM, its Component Commands, Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), deployed forces, CIO/J6, and end-users with high-quality IT platform and network services over an eight-year period.

About The Role

Peraton requires Network Optimization Engineers to support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) - 3 EOM. This position is located at MacDill AFB in Florida.

The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.

Network Optimization Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of Riverbed Steelhead solutions to enhance application performance and network efficiency. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing expert guidance on best practices for WAN optimization and application acceleration.

Key responsibilities include configuring and managing Steelhead appliances, monitoring network performance, and conducting regular assessments to ensure optimal functionality. The engineer will also be tasked with developing documentation and training materials, as well as providing support to clients and internal stakeholders.

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of networking concepts, and experience with Riverbed products. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities are essential for this role. A relevant degree and certifications in networking or related fields are preferred.

Typical duties include:
  • Plan and deploy Riverbed Steelhead appliances in various network environments.
  • Customize configurations to meet specific application performance and optimization needs.
  • Continuously monitor network performance and application traffic to identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyze data to optimize WAN performance and ensure efficient data transfer.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to Riverbed Steelhead solutions.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Develop user guides and training materials for internal teams and clients.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, system administrators, and application developers.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to stakeholders regarding WAN optimization strategies.
  • Conduct performance testing and validation of Riverbed solutions in lab and production environments.
  • Evaluate new features and updates to ensure compatibility and performance improvements.
  • Generate reports on network performance metrics and optimization results for management review.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and Riverbed product updates.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Min 9 years with HS Diploma, 7 years with AS/AA degree, 5 years with BS/BA, or 3 years with MS/MA
  • DoD TS/SCI clearance is required
  • DoD 8570 IAT II Certification,
  • SteelHead Core: Certification Exam OR RCPE Optimisation Certification,
  • AND CCNP or CCNA
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in network engineering or a related field, with a strong focus on WAN optimization and application acceleration technologies.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing Riverbed Steelhead appliances is essential, along with a solid understanding of networking protocols and concepts
  • Experience in troubleshooting network performance issues and implementing solutions to enhance application delivery is crucial.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and performance analysis techniques is also required.
  • The candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
