PROGRAM SUMMARY:
- KBR provides provide integrated Base Operations Support (BOS) services to the Commanding Officer, Navy Support Facility, Diego Garcia (NSF DG) in support of its mission as a Forward, logistics, support base in the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT).
JOB SUMMARY:
- The purpose of this job is to perform specialized duty functions in preparing for and responding to fire/medical emergency calls and in providing general support within the Fire Department/surrounding area. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to maintaining readiness for emergency call response; responding to fire, responding to exercise evolutions, and medical and related emergency calls when dispatched. Additionally, firefighters will be heavily involved in educating staff and the public on fire safety/prevention and performing Fire Department activities.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Firefighters shall be cross-trained in structural/crash fire rescue tactical procedures/responsibilities and provide support as required during crash fire rescue or structural emergencies.
- Participates as a positive team member and understands and conforms to the BOSS contract Performance Work Statement.
- Actively participates and maintains a safe workplace, ensuring safety is the highest priority.
- Maintains documentation as necessary to meet these requirements.
- Ensures emergency equipment is operational and in a state of readiness as required by NFPA or other industry standards.
- Maintains and cleans personal protective equipment and works as an effective team member in cleaning equipment and facilities.
- As part of a team conducts fire inspections and pre-incident planning, and ensures that facilities are safe and documentation is recorded and tracked.
- Operates computerized digital fire alarm receiving equipment including two-way radio communications equipment.
- Performs additional property control and logistical duties in support of fire department operations, including maintaining accountability of equipment, scheduling maintenance of equipment, coordinating appointments of subordinates, and other administrative duties as needed.
- Serves as a team member on a rescue unit, ladder truck, engine company, or water tender.
- Enters burning of contaminated structures, vehicles, and other immediately dangerous to life and health areas to fight fires and/or perform rescues while wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Acts as a crew member for structural fires, rescue operations, medical emergencies, hazardous materials responses, and other emergency events as directed by IAW process and procedures identified in the department, standard operating procedures.
- Performs duties in support of organizational metrics.
- Adequately and honestly tracks all data related to metrics.
- Provides direct support to the achievement of all metrics related to the BOSS Contract.
- Communicates professionally both orally and in writing with team members and others, as needed, to relay information necessary for job success.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor, Incident Commander, Command Staff, or Fire Chief.
BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must pass the Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) annually.
- Must participate in the Physical Fitness Program (DoDI 6055.06)
- Possess the ability to demonstrate firefighter knowledge and skills professionally.
- Ability to work effectively with fellow employees and management personnel at all levels including multinational staff, and military officials.
- Strong ability to exercise professional discretion and good judgment and to understand the effect of decisions made.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing and must have good computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
- Must hold country and Government driver's license.
- Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
- Must be able to pass the annual firefighter Occupations Health Exam and SCBA Fit Testing IAW NFPA 1500, 1582, and 1583 including but not limited to the physical strength and ability to perform heavy and strenuous tasks for extended periods under dangerous and uncomfortable conditions, often while wearing bulky protective gear, including self-contained breathing apparatus.

- DoD/IFSAC/Pro Board (Airport Firefighter)
- DoD/IFSAC/Pro Board (Driver/Operator - Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF)
- DoD/IFSAC/Pro Board (Driver/Operator - Pumper)
- DoD/IFSAC/Pro Board (Driver/Operator - Aerial)
- DoD/IFSAC/Pro Board (Driver/Operator - Mobile Water Supply)
- DoD/IFSAC/Pro Board (HAZMAT Awareness)
- DoD/IFSAC/Pro Board (HAZMAT Operations with Mission-Specific Competencies, Personal Protective Equipment, and Product Control)
- Adult First Aid/CPR/AED Training from American Red Cross
- Emergency Management Institute and U.S. Department of Homeland Security, FEMA courses (IS-100, IS-200, IS-300, IS-400, IS-700, and, IS-800)
- National Registry Emergency Medical Responder (NREMR) or acceptable DoD Equivalent.
EDUCATION:
- Must have at least a high school diploma is required; an associate or bachelor's degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have three (3) years of experience as a Firefighter working on a DoD installation.
