Job Description:

As a member of the Integration Facility, the Engineering Technician will perform maintenance and repair to various networking and telecommunication systems, cabling, and other related equipment. To include: Intraplex multiplexers, ADS-B Radio systems, or configuration of CISCO and other networking equipment to be installed in the FAA's FTI, ADS-B, MFN-2, and DCNS networks.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for the test, diagnosis, repair, configuration, and preventative maintenance of network equipment, telecommunications equipment, and/or computers for systems that support the FAA's FTI, ADS-B, MFN-2, and DCNS networks.
• Operation and testing with various pieces of electronic test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, RF generators, VIAVI 5800, and Tempo Datascout.
• Terminate and build Cable connectors and replacements (RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25)
• Communicate with vendors to perform RMA of equipment for repair.
• Maintain records on repairs, changes, and updates in homegrown database systems.
• Read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions
• Maintain a safe and clean work area by utilizing the principles of 5S.

Qualifications:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-secondary/Associate's degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a FAA Public Trust Clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Military training or trade school program in electronics or IT systems.
• Ability to safely lift 50 pounds (22.67kg)
• Familiar with Cisco devices and command line interfaces via terminal software. (Putty/TeraTerm/Hyperterm/Procomm).
• Strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and follow-through.
• Be a team player, pro-active, and customer-oriented with a sense of urgency to accomplish a given task or goal.
• Possess a high level of initiative and willingness to learn.
• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
