The Senior Training Specialist is responsible for providing C4I and TDL Subject Matter Expertise in support of training the Warfighter at the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC). They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by training and supporting the warfighter in the areas of C4I, BMD, AAWC and WTI. This position will directly impact the readiness of the fleet by providing improved training for those in the direct chain of command to operate and defend the ship during real world operations.
CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES
Works independently to:
Provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for assigned systems and sub-systems.
Develops, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs IAW training requirements.
Train students on latest advancement in the required field of study.
Provides dynamic teaching & training as well as assessment that require advanced knowledge of the assigned field of study. Reviews and analyze required system capabilities, limitations, and doctrine.
Conducts dynamic assessment of the students' abilities to comply with approved maintenance and operational procedures and thereafter provides formal appraisal of performance with recommendations for improvement and methods to maintain technical and tactical proficiency.
Observes and assesses contemporaries during Practice and Certification Teaches IAW customer requirement. Prepares; reviews; and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guide in support of traditional classroom teaching.
Supports Course Reviews and Curriculum Updates and development of WTI and other SMWDC taught courses of instruction; conducts training gap analysis provides formal feedback and recommendation for Course improvement.
Documents the training conducted with specifics of the individual areas and is responsible for generation of a formal assessment of measure of success via written report. Develops; tests; maintains; and delivers moderately complex training programs and related materials in support of customer training objectives.
Establishes and reviews course content and objectives. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
Maintains records of training activities; participant progress; and program effectiveness. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
Provide leadership for junior instructors, including evaluating the effectiveness of their training presentations and programs.
Support the performance analysis of surface ship tactical readiness and operational capability through data collection and analysis of performance metrics (e.g., SWATT, Live Fire with a purpose, Ballistic Missile Defense Exercise (BMDEX) to support units' preparation for, and completion of the advanced training phase. Provide direct support to the Performance Analysis lead, to include coordinating and executing Data Analysis Working Groups (DAWGs), updating and managing associated Event Cards and ROI metrics, and developing and providing required reports and briefs. Will work directly with NSWC Corona and NUWC Keyport Det Pacific personnel as necessary to provide required products.
Provide product graphics and technical writing to support style guides, lesson topic guides, specialized briefs, Operational and Technical documentation to include supporting documentation that support all SMWDC owned and delivered training events.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
10 plus year of experience and expert in job-related knowledge and processes, such as:
Training and development, with demonstrated leadership.
Instructional design, learning assessment, and adult education.
Communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Military experience, and/or relevant industry and/or government experience with the surface navy's combat systems, C5I, networks, and weapons systems.
Military Strike Group, Fleet, or Major Training Command, Systems Testing Command or similar military organization planning Experience.
Experience aboard Navy cruisers, destroyers or within qualified Department of Defense warfare areas.
Qualified and experienced in a watch station with the authority to employ the Aegis Weapon System (i.e. Tactical Action Officer (TAO), Air Warfare Coordinator (AAWC), Battle Watch Captain). Possess a Tactical Action Officer Qualification letter or BMD Watch Officer qualification letter.
Qualitative and quantitative assessment methods to support war-fighting readiness, capabilities, and capacity evaluations.
Microsoft Office suite of programs (Access, Excel, Power Point, Project and Word).

Candidates must have an active Top Secret/SCI clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score).
