Lead ML Engineer (Top Secret Clearance)

Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Lead ML Engineer to support an Army program, on-site at Fort Belvoir, VA . This position requires an active Top Secret clearance . The Lead ML Engineer will assist a US Army Command to create cybersecurity solutions that are ML-driven within a cloud-based environment.

Responsibilities for the Lead ML Engineer include:

• Work directly with stakeholders to understand requirements
• Liaise with government software vendors and other asset creators
• Lead coordination of point solutions into broader capabilities for Army Defense Cyber Operations

Requirements for the Lead ML Engineer include:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
• Master's or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or similar
• 8+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing (excluding internships)
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Java)
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies
• Certifications in Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence / Data Science
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Proven track record of delivering ML models that solve real-world problems
• Experience mentoring and coaching junior team members
• Ability to liaise with government software vendors and integrate point solutions into broader capabilities
• Experience with Scala (in addition to Python/Java)
• Must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain and maintain an Active U.S Government Top Secret Clearance.

Compensation for the ML Engineer include:

• Salary Range: $150,000 - $190,000 *depending on experience*
