Tyto Athene is searching for a Telecommunications Manager - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Journeyman Telecommunications Manager manages, configures, and optimizes telecommunications infrastructure to support USSOUTHCOM's mission-critical communication operations. This role ensures the performance, security, and reliability of telecom services including VoIP, video, and data communications. The individual works closely with system administrators, network engineers, and leadership to manage day-to-day telecom operations and ensure compliance with DoD standards.

Tyto Athene is searching for a Telecommunications Manager - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Journeyman Telecommunications Manager manages, configures, and optimizes telecommunications infrastructure to support USSOUTHCOM's mission-critical communication operations. This role ensures the performance, security, and reliability of telecom services including VoIP, video, and data communications. The individual works closely with system administrators, network engineers, and leadership to manage day-to-day telecom operations and ensure compliance with DoD standards.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of telecommunications systems including VoIP, SIP, and PBX platforms
- Coordinate telecom service provisioning, installation, and maintenance across multiple sites
- Oversees the deployment and integration of voice, video, and data communication systems, ensuring seamless interoperability across enterprise networks.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to telecom technicians and contractors
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, and operations teams to ensure secure and reliable telecom services
- Ensure all telecom systems comply with DoD security requirements and DISA STIGs
- Maintain documentation for telecom architectures, call flows, and change records
- Provide input on capacity planning, upgrades, and modernization of telecom infrastructure
- Support incident and problem management for telecom-related issues
- Assist in budgeting, procurement, and vendor coordination for telecom equipment and services
- Supports mission-critical operations by delivering high-performance, reliable, and adaptive communication services across global environments
Required:
- Associate's degree in Telecommunications, Information Systems, or related field
- 4-9 years of hands-on experience in telecommunications with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role
- Strong knowledge of VoIP, SIP, PBX systems, and unified communications platforms
- Familiarity with cabling standards, structured cabling systems, and telecom infrastructure
- Understanding of network fundamentals including VLANs, IP addressing, and QoS
- Ability to interpret telecom diagrams and technical specifications
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs for VoIP
- Experience supporting OCONUS or classified telecom systems
- Knowledge of unified communications systems such as Cisco CUCM
- Cisco VoIP systems training
- Cisco Certified Network Professional
Clearance:
- Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+ CE
- Cisco Certified Network Associate

- Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position.
