Position Overview

We are seeking a mid-career professional to provide Lead Technical Support to the Program Manager at a prominent R&D site in Arlington, VA. This role will contribute across the full program lifecycle—ranging from ideation and program development to implementation, evaluation, and transition coordination.

The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge and research experience in inorganic materials and chemistry, thin film deposition techniques, materials characterization, and emerging semiconductor materials. A strong foundation in experimental design and materials science is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Support program development through literature reviews, research community engagement, and technology opportunity analysis

Prepare briefing materials and documentation for new program approvals

Manage all phases of the program lifecycle, including BAA preparation, proposal evaluations, performer interaction, and transition strategy development

Lead assessments of performer progress to evaluate technical outcomes, risks, and milestones

Provide expert input on reports, briefings, and other technical communications

Conduct in-depth technical analyses to identify technology gaps and risks

Generate clear and compelling technical presentations and documentation

Coordinate and participate in program reviews, site visits, and field tests

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field (Master’s degree acceptable with exceptional qualifications)

Demonstrated expertise in:

Inorganic materials and chemistry

Thin film deposition techniques

Materials characterization

Emerging semiconductor materials

Strong foundation in experimental design and broad materials science topics

Must be able to provide at least 50% onsite support in Arlington, VA
