TSA System Administrator - Part-Time

R&K Enterprise Solutions, Inc. (R&K) is a certified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with core capabilities in Mission Support, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Exercise/Training, and Defense Healthcare in support of our Defense, Intelligence, and Federal Civilian customers.

Under contract, R&K supports the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) by providing general technical management support to the Office of Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (OSHE) and TSA field organizations for the development, execution, and administration of the TSA Environmental Management Program. Support services include maintaining and operating the Environmental Management System (EMS) Web Portal designed to track the environmental performance of 450 TSA operations across the nation.

As the TSA System Administrator, the candidate will work in a team of 2.5 full-time equivalents in maintaining and operating the EMS Web Portal, a TSA IT system housed and operated by R&K, TSA System Administrator will work collaboratively with the Information System Security Officer in ensuring the EMS Web Portal is compliant with TSA accreditation and certification requirements. The TSA System Administrator will work collaboratively with the System Analyst to support reliable access to the EMS Web Portal by end-users.

Title: TSA System Administrator

Location: R&K Corporate Office, Newport News, VA

Duration: Permanent/Part-Time/Dayshift

Clearance: A Public Trust background check is required, and a Public Trust clearance must be granted before access to the System or other TSA resources is granted.

Start Date: Upon Approval

Duties: The successful candidate shall:
  • Actively participate in IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems, services, and certifications.
  • Monitor performance and security of information technology systems to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure.
  • Help define IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes.
  • Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software.
  • Provide daily network administration support to maintain hardware and firmware, maintain/enhance network security and troubleshooting network issues.
  • Oversee management of servers, physical and virtual environments.
  • Study and analyze the performance and capacities of the systems and peripheral equipment/systems and prepare plans for future expansion and upgrades.
  • Work with vendors in ensuring component software are up to date and in compliance.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and outages for quick remediation.
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls.
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies.

Requirements: The candidate shall meet the following qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in an IT-related field is desired.
  • Minimum of eight years of IT experience required.
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize.
  • Firm grasp of IT infrastructure and operations best practices
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills

Experience with the following:
  • Windows 10, Windows Server, Exchange Server, Office, Office 365, Adobe
  • Email Server Administration, POP, IMAP, Exchange
  • Network administration
  • Website Hosting, IIS
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 is desired.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure administration is desired.
  • Cloud-based system administration experience is desired.
