Classification Description
Maintains tactical aircraft, support equipment, and forms and records. Performs and directs repair and reclamation, and maintenance support functions. Advises about problems maintaining and inspecting aircraft. Troubleshoots and maintains aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment. Removes and installs aircraft components. Conducts functional tests of repaired components and systems. Special certifications may be required. May be required to adjust, align, and rig aircraft systems. May be required to direct and/or perform aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations.
Inspects aircraft structures, systems, components, and related systems. Directs and performs aircraft components inspections. Interprets inspection findings and determines adequacy of corrective actions. Inspects and identifies aircraft corrosion for prevention and repair. May be required to perform crash recovery duties. Required to perform assigned tasks within your work center that directly supports necessary functions of this job classification.
Specialty Qualifications
a. Knowledge. Knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts, and applications of maintenance directives and data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory. Knowledge of Air Force supply and deficiency reporting procedures is mandatory. Knowledge of the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory. Knowledge of MIS (CAMS/IMDS) and desktop computer operations and use is mandatory. Must have working knowledge of Air Force supply procedures to look up, place orders, receive and maintain parts and materials to complete assigned work.
b. Education. Completion of high school with courses in mathematics is desirable. Completion of an advanced applicable aircraft maintenance course is mandatory.
c. Experience. Qualification as Sr. Aircraft Mechanic is mandatory. A minimum of seven years of directing and performing functions, such as installing, inspecting, repairing or overhauling aircraft structures, systems, and components, is mandatory.
Special Certifications and Qualifications required for position
Must have a minimum a minimum four (4) years documented experience, including phase dock, preferably within the last ten (10) years, on F-15s and/or F-16s. SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIRED
