Aegis Aerospace is currently looking for a Spacecraft Contamination Control Engineer (CCE) to join our team in Florida.

Aegis Aerospace is in support of the NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program. As such, Aegis is providing support to the spacecraft development, assembly, integration and test (AIT) as well as payload integration. The Spacecraft Contamination Control Engineer provides support on behalf of our customers to determine, negotiate and implement mission-enabling contamination requirements and controls for the lunar lander spacecraft, payloads, systems and associated hardware.

  • Required Qualifications:
    • BS or MS in Physics, Material Sciences and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related aerospace background or field of study.
    • 8+ years of experience in clean rooms, contamination control, analysis, and spacecraft integration or related support.
    • The candidate must be dependable, self-motivated, have good communication and interpersonal skills, good computer skills, and be familiar with standard Microsoft applications and Windows OS.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation
    • Ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and various contractor employees
      • The candidate must be willing to travel occasionally as required
      • Able to pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

      Desired Qualifications:
      • A thorough understanding of the full launch vehicle/payload mission life cycle is a plus.


Responsibilities
  • Support the Aegis Aerospace as an Aerospace Contamination Control Engineer on the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) contract
  • Provide oversight and execute contamination control processes and procedures - from design phase through launch processing - to meet spacecraft requirements
  • Track and analyze environmental, material, and process related contamination concerns for spacecraft and payloads throughout the build and test process
  • Maintain communication with NASA, spacecraft, and launch vehicle contractor engineers to ensure mission success
  • Create, review, and implement contamination control documentation supporting the design, fabrication, assembly, test, and transportation of one-of-a-kind, highly specialized space hardware.
  • Review and understand spacecraft buildup, assembly/ integration/test (AIT) and launch vehicle contractor processes, work orders, and procedures
  • Evaluate, formulate, and present at Aegis' Review Board any contamination control concerns that affect the designated mission
  • Perform facility walkdowns and hardware inspections; intervene when needed to address contamination related anomaly resolution
  • Provide guidance and expertise for spacecraft integration, ground support equipment, and other launch vehicle, payload, and spacecraft activities
  • Provide engineering oversight of cleanroom operations and protocols
  • Actively participate and contribute to NASA readiness reviews and launch operations at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
  • Coordinate integration and documentation of contamination requirements through development and preflight preparation of assigned systems and/or payloads
  • Perform interface control document (ICD) verifications
  • Develop, review, and coordinate program contamination control plans, test plans, procedures, personnel cleanroom training, and material and process specifications
