Job Description
Tyto Athene is searching for a Senior Systems Administrator to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Senior System Administrator is responsible for leading the design, configuration, security, and maintenance of enterprise Windows systems supporting USSOUTHCOM's mission-critical IT infrastructure. This position requires deep technical knowledge, the ability to guide junior personnel, and expertise in automation, compliance, and secure operations.

Tyto Athene is searching for a Senior Systems Administrator to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Senior System Administrator is responsible for leading the design, configuration, security, and maintenance of enterprise Windows systems supporting USSOUTHCOM's mission-critical IT infrastructure. This position requires deep technical knowledge, the ability to guide junior personnel, and expertise in automation, compliance, and secure operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, configure, and optimize enterprise Windows-based systems
- Lead patching, STIG compliance, and RMF documentation efforts across classified and unclassified domains
- Administer and monitor Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Certificate Services
- Conduct system audits, compliance assessments, and performance optimizations to sustain enterprise-wide functionality and security
- Implement and support privileged access controls with CyberArk
- Integrate and manage 802.1X authentication and collaborate with network/security teams on enforcement policies
- Align all system activities with Thunderdome Zero Trust architecture and DoD cybersecurity strategy
- Execute lifecycle management of Windows systems, aligning operations with risk mitigation, cybersecurity, disaster recovery and continuity of operations strategies
- Develop automation frameworks, implements logging and monitoring solutions, and ensures seamless integration of Windows-based systems with enterprise IT operations
- Provide Tier 3 support for critical incidents, problem remediation, and root cause analysis
- Mentor junior admins and collaborate across engineering, security, and network teams
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- 8+ years Proven expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, MECM, Exchange, and SQL
- Hands-on experience managing VMware infrastructure in enterprise virtualized environments
- Strong background supporting DoD IT environments, including DISA STIG compliance and cyber hygiene standards
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects from planning through implementation
- Experience with identity and access management (IAM), PKI, DNS/DHCP, and networked storage solutions
- Advanced scripting proficiency using PowerShell or equivalent tools
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead technical discussions with stakeholders
Desired:
- Master's degree in related field
- CISSP or CASP+ CE
- VMware (e.g., VCP, VCAP, or VCDX)
- ITIL v4 Foundation or higher
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments and cloud migration strategies.
- Familiarity supporting geographically dispersed enterprise environments, including CONUS and OCONUS locations.

- TS/SCI clearance required
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
