Tyto Athene is searching for a Systems Administrator (Windows) - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Journeyman System Administrator is responsible for configuring, installing and maintaining enterprise-level Windows systems in accordance with DoD security policies for USSOUTHCOM. This position ensures availability, integrity, and compliance of core infrastructure services and supports a range of operational requirements including CyberArk, 802.1X, and Zero Trust principles under the Thunderdome initiative.

Tyto Athene is searching for a Systems Administrator (Windows) - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Journeyman System Administrator is responsible for configuring, installing and maintaining enterprise-level Windows systems in accordance with DoD security policies for USSOUTHCOM. This position ensures availability, integrity, and compliance of core infrastructure services and supports a range of operational requirements including CyberArk, 802.1X, and Zero Trust principles under the Thunderdome initiative.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor server performance and resource utilization, analyzing logs and metrics to identify and resolve issues proactively
- Maintain, troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues related to Windows systems, including Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy
- Apply system updates, patches, and security configurations to maintain system integrity and compliance with organizational standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues related to Windows systems, including Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to aid in team operations and knowledge sharing
- Supports virtualized environments using tools such as VMware or Hyper-V, maintaining system stability and performance
- Enforce security standards and implement STIGs, IAVAs, and RMF compliance measures
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control configurations in Windows environments, maintaining security and access standards.
- Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect critical data and support business continuity
- Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages
- Provide mentorship and knowledge-sharing to junior administrators
Required:
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- 4-9 years of experience in system administration, configuration, and support
- Proficient with Windows Server and Linux environments
- Hands-on with VMware or Hyper-V virtualized infrastructure
- Strong scripting experience
- Experience with system monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- VMware VCP or VMware VCAP certification
- Familiarity with DoD RMF and STIG hardening processes
- Experience with DoD security policies, NIST, and FISMA
- Familiarity with Cloud integration and management
- Microsoft Administrator Expert (MS-102)
- Other role-appropriate CE certifications
Clearance:
- TS/SCI clearance required
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+ CE
- Microsoft AZ-104

- Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position.
