Tyto Athene is searching for a Network Administrator - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Journeyman Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting network infrastructure in support of enterprise operations for DAOSOUTHCOM. This includes managing routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment to ensure secure and reliable connectivity for users. The Journeyman supports both routine operations and escalated issues, working under the guidance of senior staff while mentoring junior personnel. The position involves implementing DoD cybersecurity standards, managing documentation, and participating in network planning and upgrade projects.

Tyto Athene is searching for a Network Administrator - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Journeyman Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting network infrastructure in support of enterprise operations for DAOSOUTHCOM. This includes managing routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment to ensure secure and reliable connectivity for users. The Journeyman supports both routine operations and escalated issues, working under the guidance of senior staff while mentoring junior personnel. The position involves implementing DoD cybersecurity standards, managing documentation, and participating in network planning and upgrade projects.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and manage Cisco and Aruba network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers)
- Implement and support network access control technologies such as 802.1X
- Enforce privileged access control using CyberArk
- Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity guidelines, including STIGs, IAVAs, and Thunderdome Zero Trust architecture
- Troubleshoot and resolve mid-to-advanced network and wireless connectivity issues
- Works with junior staff to track network performance, manage IP address assignments, and maintain an accurate inventory of network hardware.
- Conducts proactive assessments of the network infrastructure, identifying potential issues and recommending improvements to enhance stability and performance
- Troubleshoot network issues and collaborate with Tier III technicians are required
Required:
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Network Administration, or related field
- 4-9 years of hands-on experience in supporting and maintaining network infrastructure
- Proficient with Cisco or Aruba routing and switching equipment
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, and other network protocols
- Ability to troubleshoot network issues and optimize performance
- Familiarity with network security tools (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS)
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and provide after-hours support as needed
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
- Aruba ACMP certifications
- Experience with 802.1X configuration and CyberArk
- Exposure to Zero Trust concepts
- Hands-on with SolarWinds, or other network monitoring tools
- Familiarity with DoD STIGs, RMF, and compliance-driven environments.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional
Clearance:
- TS/SCI clearance required
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+ CE
- Cisco Certified Network Associate

- Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
