Job Responsibilities

The Telecommunication Specialist/SATCOM Planner will provide day-to-day operation and maintenance support for various strategic SATCOM equipment fielded. This include s on the spot training. The position also can include be the SATCOM Planner for strategic systems.

• Perform network design, evaluation, circuit planning, and operations support to ensure continuous network availability.

• Serve as a key technical support resource for Army Communications Staff organizations responsible for network management.

• Provide expert RF and IP network engineering for all theater connectivity, including reach-back links to Regional Hub Nodes and redistribution of services (RF, IP, and fiber) within the theater.

• Deliver in-theater capabilities to maintain critical service connectivity, ensuring uninterrupted Voice over SIPR (VOSIP) and other network services.

• Offer technical support to troubleshoot and resolve network outages efficiently.

• Oversee quality assurance for terminal installations and manage all testing procedures to validate terminal readiness for operations.

• Supervise satellite transmission planning, bandwidth usage, optimization, and IP network configurations to ensure optimal service delivery to end users.

• Provide comprehensive on-site technical support, including system testing (e.g., Noise Figure and Phase Noise measurements), technical guidance, network setup with routers, switches, and IP accelerators, as well as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) infrastructure and Call Manager configuration.

• Establish effective procedures for trouble ticket resolution and coordinate software releases and equipment training deployments.

• Support installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of RF/satellite, IP network, and fiber distribution systems as required .

Minimum Qualifications

• Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (Interim Secret Clearance is acceptable).

• Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required .

• Minimum of two (2) years' experience supporting the installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of communications electronic systems or equipment.

• At least two (2) years' experience operating in a tactical environment, including the operation and maintenance of antenna controllers, Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA/LNB), up/down converters, fiber optic, coaxial, and Ethernet cabling, as well as Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) satellite modems.

• Proven expertise with both commercial and military satellite acquisition procedures, including hands-on experience with commercial TDMA and DAMA modems.

• Able to travel to support mission up to 10%.

Education

• B achelor's degree in Engineering , OR an A ssociate's degree plus seven ( 7 ) years of recent specialized experience , OR eleven ( 11 ) years of recent specialized experience.
