VMware Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a VMware Engineer to join a National Security Contract located in Merrifield, VA through hybrid presence . The VMware Engineer will focus on designing, implementing, and managing VMware virtualization environments including ESXi clusters, vCenter, and virtual networking. The position involves system administration for Windows and Linux, tier-two technical support, automation scripting with PowerShell, and collaboration with internal teams and vendors to optimize infrastructure performance.

Responsibilities of the VMware Engineer include:

• Develop and configure VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter Server , including vCenter Server to ensure high availability and system scalability
• Oversee daily operations of VMs, datastores, virtual networking, and vSAN while troubleshooting performance issues
• Utilize PowerShell and VMware CLI to automate provisioning, backups, and patch management for virtual machines
• Implement backup solutions, snapshots, and Site Recovery Manager (SRM) to ensure business continuity
• Work with internal teams and external vendors to support infrastructure upgrades, troubleshoot system failures, and optimize performance

Qualifications of the VMware Engineer include:

• 4+ years of experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and managing VMware/virtualization
• Experience with PowerShell scripting, ESXi clusters, vRA/vCloud hypervisors (Hyper-V, VirtualBox)
• Expertise in virtual networking, data storage management, and backup/recovery solutions
• Understand Site Recovery Manager (SRM) for disaster recovery planning
• Excellent Communication Skills; ability to interface with internal teams and provide support
• Ability to commute to the office in Merrifield, VA 4x per week
• US Citizen or Green Card Holder

Compensation for the VMware Engineer includes:

• Salary Range: $140,000-145,000 **depending on experience**
