ManTech seeks a motivated, customer-oriented Software Development Engineer to join our team at Cape Canaveral, Florida.

ManTech's Air Force and Space Division is hiring talented individuals to support the US Space Force's Assured Access to Space (AATS)/National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program. We offer diverse opportunities in systems engineering, acquisition, program management, safety, security, digital engineering, and more, supporting space launch.

This position involves the full lifecycle of system and subsystem development, from design to integration and testing. It participates in key software reviews and acts as a technical lead for proposals and programs. This role also supports business development by briefing customers, assists the program management office technically, and serves as a primary customer contact. It may also include market research and providing technical guidance to junior engineers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for software web applications required to support the 5th Space Launch Squadron. Involves maintaining, extending or rewriting existing applications, or creating new applications which can be accessed from multiple groups, bases and domains.
  • The Software Engineer will have knowledge of modern web development strategies and techniques to support existing projects and future application development. The work is mostly on complex projects integrating multiple systems and includes all phases of the software lifecycle.
  • Principal activities include Provide support for team-developed applications; design and develop web or cloud-hosted applications; investigate and identify opportunities for efficiency enhancements to our software development processes and for the enterprise processes our applications support; application, server and tool administration.
  • Develop and provide user and leadership training for existing or newly developed applications.
  • Provide regular status updates to customer technical leads and participate in and lead agile software development methodologies.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or in a STEM discipline, an additional 6 years of Software Development experience might be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, programmer, or software developer with 1 year DoD or Launch/Range experience.
  • Development experience using the following or equivalent: VueJS, GIT, JSON, HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript, asynchronous programming, UX design, C#, Database Management.
  • Experience using software development planning tools, and task automation tools
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) facilities, processes, providers and operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, commercial business applications, and cloud-hosted platforms and applications.


Clearance Requirements:
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
