Minimum Qualifications Summary

Certification & Education

• Shall have a Medical Doctorate, with specialty in Emergency Medicine.
• Shall be Board Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
• Be able to obtain and maintain current Driver's License.
• Be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
• Be fluent in English.

Experience Required

• Shall have at least 15 years of experience as an Emergency Medicine Doctor.
• Shall have at least 3 years of experience as an Emergency Medicine Physician working within the Special Operation community.
• Shall have at least 4 years of experience serving on the Joint Trauma System Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care.
• Shall have experience in the practice of Austere Medicine and Expeditionary Medicine.
• Shall demonstrate a working knowledge of the following Naval Instructions: OPNAVINST 5100.19 NAVY SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH PROGRAM MANUAL FOR FORCES AFLOAT; 4790.4 OPNAVINST 3500.39 Series, OPERATIONAL RISK MANAGEMENT

Job Objective

Advise and provide expertise for development and execution of Special Operations Tactical Medic (SOTM) Course of Instruction (COI) at Naval Special Warfare Advanced Training Command (NSWATC) Detachment Stennis.

Responsibilities

• Travel to Stennis Space Center, MS once per quarter for a period of two weeks per visit.
• In addition, shall be available for additional phone/virtual subject matter expertise medical consultation upon request for a period not to exceed 12 hours a month. Provide all tracking of phone/virtual time in quarter of hour increments; this shall be reported in monthly status report. Responses shall be within 2 business days. This can be completed remotely.
• Assist in planning, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum for assigned courses, to determine the need for new or revised curricula. Will communicate with the Government Representative, Training Officer (TO) and Course Curriculum Model Manager (CCMM) Learning Standards Officer (LSO), other instructors, technicians, contractors, vendors, and manufacturers to assist in the development of new curricula on current and new Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) guidelines, EMT & Paramedic protocols, Austere Medicine practices, and Prolonged Casualty Care procedures.
• Determining critical clinical and operational content of instruction based on NSW/SOCOM needs, medical expertise and input from others.
• Evaluating program for accomplishment of course objectives, quality of content and compatibility with operational requirements and objectives.
• Recommends implementation of course design, changes, and improvements. Using feedback from current and former students, and training coordinators to assist in program evaluation.
• Contributing to the development of program specific or new knowledge base/experience.
• Provide training analysis and instructional support for all trauma and emergency medical simulation devices and training aids.
• Evaluate training aids and provide recommendations to the Government Representative to determine need for upgrades or changes.
• Abide by the following Naval Instructions: OPNAVINST 5100.19 NAVY SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH PROGRAM MANUAL FOR FORCES AFLOAT; OPNAVINST 3500.39 Series and 4790.4 OPERATIONAL RISK MANAGEMENT
• Assist with coordinating the training program with all assigned personnel and maintain instructor-training records.

Education & Certification

• Shall have a Medical Doctorate, with specialty in Emergency Medicine.
• Shall be Board Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
• Be able to obtain and maintain current Driver's License.
• Be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
• Be fluent in English.
