Position Summary
Northern Technologies Group (NTG) is seeking an experienced Tier III Systems/Network Engineering Lead to support the Global Solutions Management - Operations II (GSM-O II) contract and the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE) at MacDill AFB. This position plays a critical role in designing and supporting complex mission-critical systems that deliver scalable C4 capabilities to Combatant Commands, SOCOM, and other federal agencies.
You will lead enterprise infrastructure improvements, assess and integrate emerging technologies, and provide expert-level Tier III support for operational systems. This role requires strong systems engineering experience, hands-on technical acumen, and a deep understanding of DoD architecture and cybersecurity frameworks

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise systems engineering efforts to support JCSE's end-to-end IT infrastructure.
- Analyze and assess emerging technologies to determine viability for integration into current/future environments.
- Conduct hands-on engineering to improve, upgrade, and maintain existing systems and solutions.
- Evaluate and mitigate system limitations, end-of-support risks, or capability gaps impacting mission-critical C2 functions.
- Identify and recommend innovative hardware/software solutions to enhance performance and mission agility.
- Support development and updates of technical documents such as the Systems Engineering Plan (SEP), Information Support Plan (ISP), and Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into actionable technical designs.
- Attend and support modernization reviews, working groups, and synchronization meetings.
- Ensure all engineering solutions meet DoD and industry standards, including RMF cybersecurity compliance.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Active and current Top Secret/SCI federal security clearance
- Bachelor's degree and 8 to 12 years of relevant technical experience on programs of similar size and scope OR Master's degree and 6 to 10 years of relevant technical experience (Relevant certifications and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
- Active CCNP certification
- Must hold a DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+).
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of network and systems engineering in DoD environments.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise IT modernization initiatives.
- Strong background in RMF and cybersecurity best practices.
- Ability to develop innovative, standards-compliant engineering solutions across technical disciplines.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills with experience presenting to leadership and stakeholders.
