Position Summary / Objective:
KMS Solutions is seeking a highly motivated individual to join a team of engineers and technicians providing engineering and technical support to the Ranges, Engineering, and Analysis Department at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport, RI. This multi-disciplinary team is responsible for providing systems safety, environmental qualification testing, and range sustainment in support of undersea warfare systems, including unmanned and autonomous systems.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. Attendance at prescheduled mandatory meetings is required. Must be available during the core work hours as determined by your contract/location and must account for the required number of hours in a pay period to maintain Full-time status.

- Test, analyze and assess undersea warfare (USW) systems and elements to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
- Work with sensor data from acoustic, sonar, and other undersea tracking devices to test integrated systems.
- Integrate cyber security validations and scans to ensure compliance with established regulations and standards.
Required education and experience:
- Ability to obtain a Secret DoD clearance
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
- Three (3) years of software development system engineer and electrical engineering experience or systems testing experience.
- Working knowledge of Java programming and knowledge of C programming
- Working knowledge of probability and statistics, linear algebra, and multivariate calculus
Preferred education and experience:
- Active Secret DoD clearance
- Master's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
- Five (5) years of software engineering experience
- Engineering experience specific to undersea warfare systems and/or Navy training range systems
- NUWC Division Newport experience
Competencies:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate both orally and in writing to all levels of customer and company leadership
- Capable of effectively working and problem solving in both independent and team environments
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
- Strong understanding of the fundamentals of data structures and algorithms as they apply to code development
- Thoroughness and attention to detail
- Strong record of delivering quality software products
