OVERVIEW
The chosen candidate will work in a team environment with other editors/analysts to review and edit unclassified and classified DON directives (i.e. manuals, instructions, etc.) for clarity, format, consistency, and compliance with DON guidelines and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support DRMD in its capacity as the official record-keeping entity for all SECNAV directives case files,
overseeing the creation, management, and expiration of instructions
• Perform full editorial duties in connection with the review of SECNAV directives
o Review directives packages for clarity, grammar, syntax, and formatting
o Review directives packages for compliance with DON directives standards and formatting
guidelines
o Correspond with DON directives sponsors to ensure all requirements are incorporated into the
package prior to submission
o Ensure internal DRMD and DON timelines are met for completion of the package through all
stages of review
• Support DRMD in ensuring directives are available for enterprise-wide and historical use via DON websites
(unclassified website: https://www.secnav.navy.mil/doni/default.aspx)
• Utilize the DON task management software (ETMS2) to track the status of directives packages and assist
in the management of packages from cradle to grave
• Assist in preparing reports, when requested, for DRMD management regarding the status of each
directive in the workflow process
• Ensure DRMD directives case files are up-to-date, accurate, and organized
• Provide recommendations to contractor management for business process improvements
• When requested, support the review, approval, and licensing of SECNAV Forms and Information
Collections
o Support DRMD in its capacity as the official record-keeping entity for all SECNAV forms and
information collections case files, overseeing the management and expiration of forms and
information collections
o Support the validation, distribution, and verification of forms and information collections in
accordance with DON forms and information collections standards and formatting guidelines
o Support forms reviews, report/survey review, and database entries
o Ensure current forms are readily available for enterprise-wise use, and superseded/cancelled
forms are available for historical preservation via the DON issuances website
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• Top Secret Security Clearance
• Bachelor’s Degree in information management related field or equivalent combination of education
and/or experience
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, professional communication skills (written and verbal), and
reading comprehension skills
• Appetite to develop subject matter expertise in federal directives management policies and procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Word and excel
o Must have familiarity with management and presentation of large quantities of information in
Excel
o Must be able to develop clean, presentable work products in Word and Excel that can be
submitted by Contract Management (with minimal adjustments) to GS-15 and SES-level
Government employees
• Ability to multi-task, work in a team environment, and adjust to established work patterns and processes
as required
• Desired but not required:
o Experience working directly with Federal executive level agencies, Department of Defense, or the
DON in the directives management field
o Experience editing technical reports
