SWSS Program Integration Team Lead

Position Summary / Objective:
KMS Solutions, LLC is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a SWSS Program Integration Team Lead. As the Integration Team Lead, you will work for PMS 396J. The Team Lead is responsible for streamlining communications within the US/UK SWSS Program Office and with outside stakeholders including Naval Undersea Warfare Command (NUWC), Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC), Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), Trident Systems Project Team (TSPT), UK MOD, Electric Boat (EB), other NAVSEA entities as required. The Program Integration Team Lead plays a critical role in the planning, execution, and management of integration projects within an organization. They will lead collaboration across departments, ensure technical compatibility, and deliver integration solutions that align with business goals. Their responsibilities also include managing risks, providing support, and ensuring continuous improvement in integration across branches. This position supports the In-Service Strategic Submarines Program Office (PMS 396) which is part of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Program Executive Office Strategic Submarines (PEO SSBN), and Team Submarine (TSUB). PMS 396 provides acquisition, engineering, logistics, and project management support to Ohio Class Submarines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. Attendance at prescheduled mandatory meetings is required. Must be available during the core work hours as determined by your contract/location and must account for the required number of hours in a pay period to maintain Full-time status.
Telework:
This position allows for up to 40% telework. Fully remote considered for exceptionally qualified candidates outside the DMV area. However, subject to change to support customer requirements.
Travel:
Up to 25% travel may be required to locations including, King's Bay, GA and Bangor, WA, but not limited to Continental United States. Ability to travel CONUS; potential to travel OCONUS

- Stakeholder Engagement. Act as an empowered member of the 396J team to resolve action items and engage stakeholders effectively.
- Submarine Modernization and Obsolescence Management. Develop and implement a strategy for modernizing legacy systems on submarines, including upgrading obsolete systems and integrating new technologies to enhance performance and capability. Additionally, identify potential obsolescence issues and coordinate efforts to modernize or replace outdated systems, ensuring continued operational readiness and compliance with fleet requirements.
- Leadership and Subject Matter Expertise. Provide expert technical advice on complex submarine systems, offering solutions for integration challenges and ensuring all technical aspects are aligned with Navy standards. Lead technical training programs for integration teams and junior engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer of submarine systems and integration processes. Engage with technical and programmatic stakeholders, ensuring effective communication of technical requirements, constraints, and solutions.
- Technical Analysis Solutions. Provide targeted technical recommendations to address aging systems or equipment within both US and UK fleets, ensuring that the most effective modernization strategies are implemented to maintain combat readiness and mission capability. Conduct in-depth technical assessments to identify and resolve bottlenecks in fleet operations. This includes working on key systems like propulsion, communication, combat systems, and fire control, ensuring seamless interoperability between the US and UK fleets.
- Long-Term Strategic Solutions Help shape long-term strategies for both US and UK fleets, focusing on obsolescence prevention, system upgrades, and overall fleet sustainability. By incorporating lessons learned from both countries' naval operations, contribute to strengthening the strategic and tactical effectiveness of the fleets.
- Collaboration with International Partners. Collaborate with international partners, such as the UK or other allied navies, to share best practices and integrate systems that support interoperability across fleets. Manage and lead cross-national technical coordination efforts for submarine integration projects that involve both US and international partners, ensuring alignment on technical requirements and program timelines.
- Analytical Briefings. Provide briefings on analytical findings and recommendations on various topics as needed.
- Professional Advice. Offer expert guidance on planning, programming, budgeting, and execution of modernization efforts.
- POAM Development. Evaluate, provide direction, recommendation to the teams on POAMs used for technical and/or programmatic needs with assessments of action, mitigations needed, engaging with stakeholders to assess and implement mitigations required.
Required education and experience:
- 7+ years working in a related position.
- 3+ years working with the Department of Defense (DoD).
- Bachelor's degree. Experience may be qualifying in lieu of a degree.
Preferred education and experience:
- Experience working with modernization of U.S. Navy ships and equipment is highly desired.
- Experience with submarine systems, equipment, operations, maintenance, or other submarine activities.
- Familiarity with key stakeholders including Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Planning Yards (PYs), Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP), Submarine Type Commanders (TYCOMs).
- Familiarity with modernization documents including Ship Alteration Records (SARs), Alteration and Improvements (A&Is), Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs), Liaison Action Records (LARs), Justification Cost Forms (JCFs), and Government Furnished Information (GFI) requests in the appropriate data information systems.
- Experience reviewing technical documents.
- Experience writing to the Naval Correspondence Manual.
