Secret cleared Network Engineer

Our client, a large federal contractor located in Manassas, VA is looking to hire a Secret cleared Sr Network Engineer for a 12-month onsite contract. There may be some eventual flex for some hybrid work but the position is primarily onsite. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting complex network environments, including on-premises infrastructure and cloud-based networks.

This role requires expertise with Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco Switches, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Secure Network Analytics (SNA), Wireless Networking, Secure network implementation best practices, AWS and Azure networking.
Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure using Cisco switches, Palo Alto Firewalls, and Cisco ISE.
• Develop and maintain network security policies and configurations, ensuring optimal protection and compliance.
• Implement and support hybrid cloud networking solutions across AWS and Azure environments, including VPCs, Virtual Networks, VPNs, and other related technologies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, ensuring high availability and performance across all network components.
• Perform network assessments and audits, making recommendations for improvements.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configuration guides, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with other teams to support the integration of network solutions across the enterprise.
• Monitor network performance and optimize systems for improved efficiency and performance.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in network engineering with a focus on Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco Switches, Cisco ISE, and Cisco SNA.
• Proven experience with AWS and Azure networking, including hybrid cloud integration.
• Extensive knowledge of routing and switching protocols, network security, and load balancing.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Skills:

• Familiarity with NIST 800-171 (CMMC) compliant network architectures.
• Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture and implementation.
• Knowledge of network monitoring tools and platforms (e.g., PRTG).
