Mechanical Design Drafter

Aegis Aerospace is currently looking for a Mechanical Designer Drafter to join our team in Cape Canaveral, FL.
This role is salary of $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year depending on education, experience, and any certifications directly related to the role. This role has a period of performance (PoP) of 19 May 2025- 1 June 2026.
Overview:
The purpose of this position is to work with the prime contractor in developing and designing Ground Support Equipment for the Orion program. This position will support Aegis' contract with Lockheed Martin (LM) in Cape Canaveral Florida. The engineer will work with Lockheed Martin's team developing interface control drawings (ICD), parts lists, and component hardware using LM's design processes. These documents will support fabrication and installation of the Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) tooling and hardware. Applicants will be responsible for design review products, review of results, and communicating results effectively to all stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Use Creo to develop plans, drawings, models, revise and initiate formats for parts, assemblies, and installation engineering
- Create new parts, drawings, BOMs, assemblies, simplified reps, shrink wraps
- Support team members with design knowledge
- Complete layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices (ASME Y14.5)
- Prepare complete production detail drawings
- Completes design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations
- Develop design requirements specification documents
- Design the MGSE hardware
- Develop ICDs and other drawings
- Provide weekly design progress
Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Must be a US Citizen for consideration
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- 5+ years' experience in aerospace mechanical design outside of an academic setting
- Must have professional experience using a 3D CAD system (Creo, NX Solidworks, etc.)
- Experience with machine tool design or tool modification
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experienced technical problem solver.
- Experience with interpersonal skills in a teaming environment where collaboration and communication are critical to the functioning of the team.
- Motivated self-starter willing to take initiative.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, project leads, customers, and with contract colleagues is essential.
- Ability to attain and maintain respect and confidence of the customer and contract personnel. A close, cooperative customer interface is essential.
- Mature, professional judgment in establishing objectives, milestones and priorities.
- Reliable and dependable work habits and dedication to get the job done.
DESIRED:
- Experience working on government contracts.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
